Required Hard Disk Space

3.0 GB available

Required Display

Graphics hardware acceleration requires a DirectX 10 graphics card and 1024 x 576 resolution

Required .NET Version

3.5, 4.0, or 4.5

Multi-touch

A touch-enabled device is required to use any multi-touch functionality. However, all features and functionality are always available by using a keyboard, mouse, or other standard or accessible input device. Note that new touch features are optimised for use with Windows 8.

Additional System Requirements

Some functionality may vary, based on the system configuration. Some features may require additional or advanced hardware or server connectivity.

Note:  System requirements are rounded up to the nearest 0.5 GB, to be conservative. For example, if we measure an application’s required hard disk space to be 1.99 GB, we recommend 2.5 GB of disk space. Our hard disk system requirements are intentionally larger than the actual disk space usage of the software.

A graphics processor helps increase the performance of certain features, such as drawing tables in Excel 2013 or transitions, animations, and video integration in PowerPoint 2013. Use of a graphics processor with Office 2013 requires a Microsoft DirectX 10-compliant graphics processor that has 64 MB of video memory. These processors were widely available in 2007. Most computers that are available today include a graphics processor that meets or exceeds this standard. However, if you or your users do not have a graphics processor, you can still run Office 2013.

FAQ

How do I know if my computer or device can run the new Office?

You can install Office on PCs or Windows tablets running Windows 7 or higher, Macs with Mac OS X 10.6 or higher, iPads running iOS 7.0 or higher, and on Android tablets running KitKat 4.4.1

Is Internet access required for Office?

Internet access is required to install and activate all the latest releases of Office suites and all Office 365 subscription plans. For subscription versions of Office including Office 365 Home you will need to go online to manage your subscription account, for example to install Office on other machines, or to change billing options. You will also need to connect to the Internet regularly to keep your version of Office up-to-date and benefit from automatic upgrades. Internet connectivity is also required to access the Office 365 cloud services such as OneDrive.

Can I install the new Office on my Mac?

The applications available for Mac users and the version numbers may be different from those available for PC users. If you have an active Office 365 Home or Office 365 University subscription, and available installs, you can install Office on your Mac, which includes the Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook applications. The OneNote, Publisher, and Access applications are not available for Mac. Current Office application versions for Office 365 are Office 2013 for Windows and Office 2011 for Mac. Customers with an active subscription will be entitled to the newest versions when available.

How much OneDrive storage do customers get?

Customers with an active Office 365 Home subscription receive an additional 1TB of OneDrive storage. They can share their subscription benefits with up to four members of their household, and each member who is added to the existing subscription also receives an additional 1TB OneDrive storage. This additional storage is not available during trial periods. This additional 1TB of OneDrive storage is applied to the OneDrive accounts that are linked to the Microsoft account used to create the Office 365 subscription account and any other account (up to four) that the subscription purchaser decides to share their subscription benefits with.

I thought Office 365 was for business. What’s changed?

Office 365 remains a great option for businesses, with plans designed for companies of all sizes, from individual consultants to enterprises. New for this release is Office 365 Small Business Premium, which is designed for businesses with 1 to 10 employees.

Can people with another Office version open documents I create with Office 365 Home?

A: Surface Pro 3 works best with Surface Pro 3 Type Cover, however your Touch and Type Cover 2 will click in and work with Surface Pro 3.

Yes, a person with a previous version of Microsoft Office can easily open documents created with Office 365 Home applications. Office 2007, Office 2010, Office 365, or Office 2013 users can open documents created using the latest release of Office applications without any additional action. Customers using earlier versions of Office may need to download and install a compatibility pack.

Ratings and reviews

Rated 1 out of5 by fromInternet must be connected to use the program!I found 365 to be a wasted investment for me. I discovered after I bought it that I can't use the product without being connected to the internet, and as I bought it specifically for when I was travelling to use on my iPad, that just didn't happen… I did not have access to the internet when I wanted to use it, so I found 365 to be very frustrating to use….and so will I renew? definitely NO….as I need a product that I can rely on using on my iPad 24/7 - regardless of where I am travelling in the world….

Rated 2 out of5 by fromOffice 365 - market power abuseOffice 365 is adequate: it seems to be the cheapest way to keep operating with Microsoft. I preferred the days of a disc you bought with the package on it so you could have the software for future use on an obsolete machine, or to transfer to another machine, without having to have internet access, or all the accounts keeping nonsense that detracts from the use & operation of a modern PC. Don't get me started on the so called "upgrades" that come with the latest versions of EXCEL & WORD where you need to re-learn how to do the simplest operations. Bring back XP and all the 2003 versions of Office...

Rated 4 out of5 by fromPoweful and User friendlyWe have been running this on 5 computers and mobile devices, the transition was seamless as we migrated from 7 and 10. This product is much more user friendly and gets projects done in half the time. The suite integrates well with other software. The subscription is a very cost effective way to upgrade software if you are running multiple devices.OneDrive has sorted out its earlier issues and is a great tool when you are mobile.Unfortunately 365 does not work on Android Tabs. This is disappointing and Microsoft need to make their product available to the fastest growing market; otherwise they would have received 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromWorks seamlesslyBought this a month ago and have found it works very well. My wife, who’s not accustomed to change nor one to appreciate technology all that much, was very impressed by the look and feel of the upgrade.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromI was a skeptic.....I've always purchased office in the past, but I was skeptical when coming to purchase the new office 365 as i heard it was web orientated.I thought what the heck and purchased it. You know what......I'll never go back. I now use office on all my devices Windows tablet, iPad, Desktop and iPhone. All work flawlessly, I use all these devices every day and it just works. I say, Go with your gut feeling! Buy it today!

Rated 4 out of5 by fromExcellent all round productObviously it's Office which is already an excellent product but for the cost, the ease of use, the extras Microsoft have thrown in, why wouldn't a home user with more than one computer sign up for this? Never having to buy the next version, not having to update it straight after install, using it on my iPad or Android phone, being able to access my documents anywhere. Very impressed with Microsoft at the moment. My only wish would be for it to be allowed on Android Tablets so I can stop using the iPad once and for all.
