Ratings and reviews

Rated 3 out of5 by fromGreat screen, a bit heavy, performance is sluggishHad my eye on the Surface Pro 3 to replace my 3 year old Ultrabook, but when I saw this on sale, I grabbed one. Half price than the SP3, and has bigger memory and disk space... no brainer!Tried to install some games, and boom, found out about the i5-4202Y processor... I didn't realize it was such a let down of a processor as it's not even as fast as the i3 version of the Surface Pro 3. I very much want to keep this, as I can live with the quirks of the keyboard (really, they should fire the person who designed the keyboard) but my 3 year old ultrabook is faster than the Miix... It's like I downgraded instead of upgraded my PC...

Rated 2 out of5 by fromNice enough at first, but severe design shortfallsPurchased online at a discount after reviewing specs, even though very few reviews online. Nice enough package and design, but actually trying to use it is rather horrible. Here are the bad things I found, before eventually returning it for a refund within 30 days.1. Keyboard is basically unusable, even by chiclet keyboard standards. Very mushy plasticky keys.2. Keyboard layout is atrocious. The 1 key is over the W instead of the Q. There is no F-key line. There is no document navigation key block.3. No distinct buttons on the trackpad (and no trackpoint, but I knew that initially.)4. Trackpad is single-touch only. What is this, 2006?5. Screen is "held" to the keyboard slice via gravity and a very weak magnet. There is no physical latch.6. The bottom keyboard slice has a lot of flex. Unless you're resting it and typing on anything but a flat surface, it's soft and mushy.7. When used on a lap or other soft sufrace, the "gravity magnetic connection" frequently disconnects and reconnects the keyboard so you lose typing.8. CPU and system performance is very sluggish. This does NOT feel like an i5 system with an SSD, no where close. Background cloud data synch over my cable connection (2MB/sec) made the system sluggish and choppy.9. Screen resolution colours very nice but maximum brightness level is not particularly bright. Annoyingly wide 1" bezel around the display meaning this is a rather large table even though only a 30cm screen.10. Weird proprietary 20V USB cable power charging connection. What?Back to the store it went after 2 weeks.
