Requirements

Required Processor

1 gigahertz (Ghz) or faster x86- or x64-bit processor with SSE2 instruction set

Required Operating System

Windows 8.1 or 8, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Mac OS X 10.6 or later, or Android KitKat 4.45

Required Memory

1 GB RAM (32 bit); 2 GB RAM (64 bit)

Required Hard Disk Space

3.0 GB available

Required Display

Graphics hardware acceleration requires a DirectX 10 graphics card and 1024 x 576 resolution

Required .NET Version

3.5, 4.0, or 4.5

Multi-touch

A touch-enabled device is required to use any multi-touch functionality. However, all features and functionality are always available by using a keyboard, mouse, or other standard or accessible input device. Note that new touch features are optimized for use with Windows 8.

Additional System Requirements

Some functionality may vary, based on the system configuration. Some features may require additional or advanced hardware or server connectivity.

Note:   System requirements are rounded up to the nearest 0.5 GB, to be conservative. For example, if we measure an application’s required hard disk space to be 1.99 GB, we recommend 2.5 GB of disk space. Our hard disk system requirements are intentionally larger than the actual disk space usage of the software.

A graphics processor helps increase the performance of certain features, such as drawing tables in Excel 2013 or transitions, animations, and video integration in PowerPoint 2013. Use of a graphics processor with Office 2013 requires a Microsoft DirectX 10-compliant graphics processor that has 64 MB of video memory. These processors were widely available in 2007. Most computers that are available today include a graphics processor that meets or exceeds this standard. However, if you or your users do not have a graphics processor, you can still run Office 2013.

Ratings and reviews

Rated 4 out of5 by fromEasy and always up to date, economicalI've had Office 365 for a while. Before that we always had out-of-date office packages. Now I turn it on, and I always get all the latest features and bug fixes. Most importantly, I don't have to buy another software pack for the kids - one subscription can cover 3 or so devices so the kids do their school work on the most up-to-date Office version at no extra charge. Finally the integration with the 20+ GB cloud account is the easiest I've experienced. I will never lose files again. They should stop wasting money promoting the regular Office and put all the advertising into this. I think the benefits are poorly understood.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromKnow what you need! The office product is advertised as a software that can be installed on multiple devices. The reality is that the product is dependent on MS accounts, not devices. I originally purchased the version that was advertised as a single device. After I installled the product on my laptop, I discovered that I could net make it available to my spouse that has an a unique account on the same laptop. Fortunately, the MS customer service rep I spoke with was able to refunded my original purchase and all me the correct version that allows for 5 account holders. Couldn't be more happy!

Rated 2 out of5 by fromMissing features, not great on Windows Phones. The good: Runs well on PCs.The bad: Features like comparing offices files not available unless you buy the enterprise version. Makes it tough to resolve sync problems with OneDrive. Microsoft not thinking from the customer perspective again.Windows phone version highly crippled and limited in file versions. Hopefully Windows 10 version will fix this. The ugly: My laptop copy asks me to reactivate office every time I boot up. Also (perhaps a OneDrive problem) I can not keep an offline version of all my files on my windows phone.Hopefully Microsoft will step up and meet customer needs in the future.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromLove the Interface and UserabilityI purchased this software a few months ago, and love the user interface and easy way to navigate around Office. One problem that I do have and cannot seem to overcome, is that the version that downloaded on my system was a 32bit and my system is 64bit, sometimes causing memory problems and not being able to cut and paste properly. If anyone can suggest to me how to over come this would love to hear. I de-installed it, restarted the computer, and reinstalled it as per the forum, and still seems to be loaded as 32bit after following the suggestions. Any help with this, I would appreciated.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromVery poorHorrible. Purchased to have on a new computer as the version I had on my old one was incompatible. Now I can't check emails through both computers...only 1 at time. Some emails go to one computer and some go to the other. tech said I would have to upgrade old computer in order for them to work together but that is ridiculous as how am I to know this is the case until I spend the money on a new program? If it doesnt work then I'm out that money. Its the same email address so why shouldn't it work whether its an old version or a new version? And majority of the time it is going to the old one and not the new one so how is an upgrade the solution? Would never purchase Microsoft again if I don't have to

Rated 5 out of5 by fromGreat Product as AlwaysMicrosoft Office has always been our software of choice for Word Processing and Spreadsheets. With the advent of Microsoft Office 365, we never have to worry about buying the latest and greatest version again. We will always be updated as long as we maintain our subscription, and that is a convenience worth paying for. We have also expanded our businesses and as such, mobility has increased. Having all our documents and software available on One Drive has improved our efficiency tremendously. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking a product that is comprehensive in uses and convenient to acquire and maintain.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromGood but one significant limitation that bugs me!I'm now into year 2 with MS Office 365 and for the most part, it's been great. I bought it on my work computer (BYOD) and now have it also loaded on a new Mac I bought for home. My only key problem is, as a power Excel user, I've found that the version provided, does not seem to handle some of the things Ive come to expect it to, when handling some data manipulation. With some research, the solution seems to come back that I need to install the 64bit version as well. But there are some limitations with that software and Macros? Not sure, but the bottomline is that the old installations of office 2013 seemed more powerful.
