Ratings and reviews

Rated 4 out of5 by fromGreat InterfaceThe design facilitates fast and easy access to information. Very smooth and the ability to move between 8.1 and the classic windows is handy. Had some restart/sleep hanging issues but after a system refresh and a BIOS update the issue seems resolved.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromI hate Win 8.1I bought a new MSI computer with Win 8.1 preloaded in it, but from day1 I found the OS cumbersome. I have a Windows 7 64bit on my home made computer and runs very quick and smooth. So I am purchasing a key for Window 7 and am planning on wiping Window 8.1 and going 7.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromThought I loved Windows 7 until...Once I set it up to go right to desktop and downloaded 3rd party software to bring back the start menu, essentially making the ui act like Windows 7 I loved it. All the things I love about Windows 7 but so much quicker and overall better experience. You can tell Microsoft put a lot of good stuff under the hood. Excited for Windows 10!!

Rated 4 out of5 by fromDO NOT LIKE THE START MENUCame with the computer, everything is good so far. Just have not got used to the start menu, which take long to get my app to start. It might be good for tables, but for PCs, it is too too confusing.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromThank you MIcrosoftYou gave me all the features I wished I had in win 8. The holes have been plugged. It makes navigating a breeze, with loads of choices to get there. I no longer fear intrusions. I love you, Microsoft.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromGreat OS overallWin 8.1 is a great OS. It is light, it is fast, it is versatile and has all the best of W7 and way more without the "weight". I have it installed in computers as old as 8 years old with Centrino single core processor (with 2gb of ram) and the computer really feels like new. Of course it feels way better in my AMD 3 yrs. old with upgraded SSD and 6 GB of RAM, but the point is that the OS is very flexible. Love the fact that I can use the desktop as needed or I can go for the tiles when I feel like. It has a brief learning curve but if you are willing to put the effort, it is worth it! I cannot wait to see what W10 will be... :)
