Ratings and reviews

Rated 2 out of5 by fromDoes what its says on the tin but too expensive! The dock does exactly what it should and does it well. However the price is astronomical. Do correct me if I'm missing something but I replicated all the dock's functions with a GBP 25 USB 3.0 hub with Ethernet port and a GBP 5 mini display port to HDMI cable.Of course, I can't charge the SP3 like the hub but I just plug it into the charger it came with.I understand that a separate hub and 2 cables don't look quite as nice as the dock but they function just as well and take about the same amount of time to 'plug in'.Is a nice aesthetic worth over GBP100 extra? It may be for you, and to each their own but my personal opinion is that microsoft is overcharging for this.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromMust have accessorySurface dock arrived on time today. Cleared my desk to make space for it and have it set next to my monitor. No setup required other than putting in the cables - worked straight away once I slotted my Surface Pro 3 in.The dock is fantastic and is an absolute must for the SP3 (unless of course you already have a desktop!). My setup is now complete and all is in perfect balance in my office. When I go out, I just unclip it from the dock and go. So cool! When docked I use the SP3 for Xbox music or for note taking with the pen.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromMust have Accessory #2I have to agree with McGeeky and disagree with Grandmastercard. This is a must-have if you wish to fully replace your desktop with the SP3 - which I did!I would also take issue with Grandmastercard's comparisons, he is not comparing apples with apples. His solution is 3 USB ports, an ethernet port and a display port. The dock gives 6 usb ports, one ethernet adapter and two display ports - oh and an additional charger. And the final throw-away about how quickly all of the various bits can be attached compared to the docking station. Good luck with that challenge! Attach 3 cables (usb, display & power) on opposite sides of the SP3 in the 1-2 seconds it takes to put it in a dock and close the "wings". Yeah right.Yes, it's expensive, yes you can get comparable functionality cheaper, no you can't get a better solution if you have a genuine need.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromDoes exactly what it says on the tin!@Gardmastercard - Would you raise the price issue if it had an Apple logo on it?Cost wise it is on par with other docking station solutions, for tablets and laptops. It works as advertised, saves you fiddling around with plugging in lots of cables, and means you can just come in and plug and play as it were, dual monitor support would be nice and a couple more USB ports, but that really is just nitpicking.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromDesktop goneI switched from an original surface pro to a pro 3 and this docking station. It's so good I have packed away my desktop permanently. Everything in the cloud now and it's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. The pro 3 slots in effortless and drives my original desktop monitor keyboard and mouse.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromSolidIt's a pretty solid piece of hardware that works great for keeping your desk neat and tidy. Only knock on it is the lack of a VGA connection to make it compatible with most monitors. It is pricey but if you are going to spend the money on a Surface Pro tab you may as well finish it out right.
