Installation and FAQ

How do I install Office?

After purchase, you can install Office at www.office.com/myaccount. For more information, see the FAQ.

What's the difference between Office 365 plans and Office 2016 suites?

Office 365 plans include the complete suite of Office applications, plus other services that are enabled over the Internet, including extra cloud storage with OneDrive and Skype minutes for home use. With Office 365 you get the full, installed Office experience on PCs, Macs, tablets (including Windows, iPad, and Android) and smartphones. Office 365 plans are available as a monthly or annual subscription. With Office 365, upgrades are always included with your subscription.

Office 2016 suites, including Office Home & Student and Home & Business, include applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote; they are available as a one-time purchase for use on a single PC or Mac. The applications are not automatically updated; to get the latest version, you must purchase Office again when the new version becomes available.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromHad to buy to get Android version!I had the complete Office 2013 Suite already installed, but, after beta-testing the preview of the product for Android, for some reason, MS decided not to offer the free version to those with tablets larger than 10". So, I had to buy a subscription just to get the products on my tablet. While it works fine on the tablet (and actually has some nice features), installing Office 365 Home on my desktop was problematic, and required a lengthy tech support call to repair some glitches (short version -- remove Office 2013 before installing Office 365!)

Rated 4 out of5 by fromProblems solved.I was having several issues with opening Excel and Powerpoint after an upgrade. Customer service solved my problem via remote access. Apparently it was only the shortcut acting up. Once trashed, a new one was put in place and now it is running great.

Rated 3 out of5 by fromStable ProductUpgrading from Outlook 2007 and office 2010 - 365 is much more stable ... Little disappointed that contacts and email accounts do not sync across devices .... When you add a new contact on a Windows PC it will not add the contact to my Mac, iPhone or iPad !

Rated 1 out of5 by fromMostly Good but Outlook 365 is uselessOne Note is a wonderful application that continues to save time & keep me informed. Really appreciate the automatic syncing across platforms.Word and Excel have some improvements over previous versions but it is disappointing that some of the shortcuts such as save as workbook does work the same as going though File save as.Outlook 365 is disaster. Outlook 2010 worked fine but I unable to use Outlook 365 for email which has always been a core function for me. Outlook 365 dose behave like the documentation I have used Live Mail for years for Hotmail and used Outlook 2010 for the same function. I cannot send emails to groups and the address book is almost useless. I have scanned, posted questions to the Microsoft Forums, and tried for hours to get it perform as documented. I have come to the conclusion that there are serious design or coding errors. IS IT POSSIBLE TO DOWNGRADE TO OUTLOOK 2013 IF IT WORKS OR OUTLOOK 2010 WHICH DOES WORK. MAIL CANNOT BE USED BECAUSE IT HAS NO GROUP EMAIL FUNCTION.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromOffice 365I bought this as I have all my documents and recipes saved in Word. As a home user and retired person, I wish Microsoft would offer a Senior Discount as I am on a fixed budget and the yearly fee is a bit high for needing this product to open all my saved files.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromMicrosoft still aheadI like the power the package. My only concern is the inability of PowerPoint and Word to open previous documents created on a windows system.
