Ratings and reviews

Rated 5 out of5 by fromMost awesome phoneBest phone I've ever had compared to other smart phones.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromGreat value w/ few missing featuresThe Lumia 630 is a surprisingly fast, versatile, and feature-rich phone for being such a low-budget choice. Its processing power is up to the task of running most apps, but can get bogged down if several are in memory. The default camera app is often dreadfully slow to load even though a shortcut is available from the lock screen, meaning that opportunistic moments are often lost before they can be captured. Also lacking are a front-facing camera, any flash to speak of, or a tactile shutter button, so selfie technology is set back half a decade. This phone shares the same general dearth of apps as other Windows phones, but manages to be reasonably functional if you're ok with using the reasonably capable built-in or off-brand apps.Mine was easily tied in to my decades-old Hotmail account, and other features like the ability to archive and even (with some difficulty) download text messages is also helpful, although it took me half the phone's life to figure out how to get Gmail to play nice.Cortana was even pretty ok and occasionally impressive, tho I often resorted to blue traditional search engines. This phone survived plenty of rough treatment for almost a year until its screen lost a battle with concrete. Performance was good enough that I'll seek out another Lumia model on purpose, instead of simply the cheapest option.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromGreat phone for an even better priceI have been using the Lumia 630 for quite a while now, about 8 months. It took some getting used to at the beginning, coming from Android, but after a couple of days you will be able to master almost all the functions without hesitations. Despite being a budget phone, there are plenty of functionalities that you don-t get even in higher priced phone. For me, the best feature is the SatNav app which let you download maps to your phone for FREE offline navigation. This is a great plus if you are on holiday and don't feel like paying for roaming. The navigation app itself is really good, tried it both walking and driving, can't fault it.The fitness app is great too, basic functionalities that won't require you to install any third party app to track your steps or your workouts; also an excellent way of motivating you to walk a little bit if you have been sitting too long. The battery life is great if you, like me, don't use your phone for games. 2 days with normal usage, navigation, email, messaging and the sort. Really good, and better than most phones out there.Office and Onedrive sync are a nice touch, helping you keep your documents tidy and always accessible. If you use other third parties services like Dropbox, Box, or Copy, you will find the app for them in the appstore, and Office will work with them too.Messaging apps like Whatsapp and Viber are available, as well as Skype. The only problem is that if you have Skype open on your phone and on your computer simultaneously, there is some sort of conflict between the two that leads to missed calls. Closing the app on the phone when accessing from the PC solves the issue though. Also, the lack of a front camera means that you won't be able to make video calls in which both you and your contact see each other, unless you are in front of a mirror. Not much of a problem really, but you might want to take it into account if you do loads of videocalls.Audio quality is excellent, meaning that you can use it as MP3 player without regrets. If you want to take photos, the camera is good enough even though there is no flash; personally, I prefer to have a regular camera to take pictures. All in all, a great phone, with all the basic functionalities and nice extras if you are like me and use your phone manly for calls, texts, emails and short lived internet browsing sessions every now and then.Highly recommended!
