Ratings and reviews

Rated 2 out of5 by fromVery disappointingI can only agree that it is a machine that looks great on paper but after only 5 days, I am so annoyed by: the display, sound, and most of all the touchpad. It just does absolutely nothing like I had imagined when I bought it. I do not know if it has anything to do with the windows 8, I have never used apple, only windows 7 before, but the processor seems to not provide any, literally any multitasking, touchpad does not react, power button does not react always either. I mean, it makes me very sad. Price is good though but again, I though that a tablet (which by the way proves to be the only normally working state of this computer) functionality of this is only additional.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromNice 2 in 1 but...It is a solid 2-1 computer. It does all that it says. Now the but... I do illustration work and use a leading graphics program. The touchscreen w/a these specs of most towers. Awesome right? I can not find a precision stylus to work on the touchscreen. I've tried a bunch of them. Went to asus site, microsoft store both site and physical, even a leading stylus companies site and asked. No use. So why put a touchscreen on this beast? If any one finds this bottle and can help, please do. Enjoy the laptop.

Rated 2 out of5 by fromAverage ComputerI would say ASUS is a cheap doing brand. After including all great functionality like Good touch screen, Keyboard and Average Touchpad they ruined all with cheap MT7630E wifi adapter. Which is not even getting me 10Mbps on my 105 Mbps internet connection and makes me feel like cheap computer.Whereas MacBook Air gets me 80-90 Mbps. So, If you don't need much wifi speed then its great laptop at this price. Also, if you are buying this laptop for using it's touchscreen then forget it. Its 15.6'' Laptop so using it as tablet is of no use.Touchscreen : Good and Resposive with Full HD (But I would say of no use)Keypad : GoodBattery Life : Great. 6-7 Hrs with moderate conditionPerformance : Great

Rated 5 out of5 by fromSolid Laptop, Good ValueI purchased this laptop to replace my old Inspiron 14z. Overall, it's probably the best laptop I have owned. Most of the shell is made of aluminum, similar to what is found on Macbooks, and what is not aluminum is made of high-quality plastic. The hardware is fine for day-to-day use: movies, skype, and light-games are snappy and responsive; the keyboard provides good feedback and is well-spaced out; and the monitor has accurate color reproduction. My one gripe is the fact that the hard-drive is a simple 5400 rpm mechanical disk. Given the price, it's an omission I can live with, but once the warranty expires, I will be upgrading to a 512 GB SSD (another plus of this laptop -- ASUS has made it relatively easy to upgrade).

Rated 3 out of5 by fromPower ProblemsPurchased this product 8/26/14 and probably received it a week later. I haven't had any problems in the three months I've had it and have been happy with my purchase until now. Two days ago my computer started to lag (I figured it was due to internet connections and the sites I was on). Then last night I went to power on my laptop after shutting it down for about an hour and it wouldn't turn on. The laptop is receiving power (checked with a multimeter) and the power cord is sending a charge. Sending it to Asus today for warranty repair and hopefully they fix whatever the problem may be.Aside from this one problem, everything has been great. Personally I would want a smaller laptop as I use this for transporting to school so I find it bulky and heavy, but for home use love the size.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromPerfect for medefinitely my favorite laptop purchase I have made. I had a Toshiba prior to my asus and it is for sure an UPGRADEvery quick speedeasy to useI have yet to have an issue with iteveryone keeps down talking the tablet use of it. I think its a great, definitely to large to be a tablet but I love to have it as an option. get to fold back the key board to watch a move.the Touch screen is easy to use.I would definitely recommend to anyone

Rated 4 out of5 by fromPretty satisfiedI'm two months in, no real issues with the computer itself: more so issues with Win 8. But nothing a little troubleshooting couldn't fix.

Rated 2 out of5 by fromDisappointedI've had this laptop for a few days now. This is my first Windows machine since I switched to the Mac about 10 years ago. I'm already using Microsoft's online services (OneDrive, XBox Music, and Office 365) and I'm very happy with them. So I thought I'd try a Windows machine again since my wife wanted a laptop with an integrated number pad.The first (and biggest) issue is that the power button doesn't always work. Sometimes it takes multiple short presses (6 or more times) for it to work. And sometimes, it just doesn't respond no matter what I do. For this reason alone I'll probably be forced to return it.Aside from that, the screen is the most disappointing aspect of this laptop. The viewing angles just aren't very good. The machine feels solid enough although not as solid as what you would find on higher end machines (MacBooks, Surface, maybe some others).I love the idea of Microsoft Signature products with no bloatware installed. If I can just find a reasonably-priced Windows laptop that has a pretty decent screen and a keypad (oh yeah, and a power button that works ;) ), I'll be happy.
