All your info in one place

OneNote is a digital notebook for capturing, storing, and sharing all kinds of information. The first thing you’ll see when you open OneNote 2013 is a fresh, clean look that lets you focus on your thoughts and ideas instead of the interface. Full integration with the cloud means you can free your files from your computer’s hard drive so your notes and information are saved and searchable wherever you go — on nearly any mobile device, tablet, or browser.

Capture the info you want and need

Your go-to notebook. No need to leave out any useful ideas. Gather typed and handwritten notes, links, web pages, sketches, and videos and other media and assemble it in one handy place.

Embed files. Insert pictures, documents, videos, and more right into your notes.

Inking. Enjoy the freedom to take notes your way. Be creative with Inking—smoothly draw, erase, and edit with your finger, stylus, or mouse. If you’d rather write than type, OneNote can convert your handwriting into text.

Find and share what you need fast

Auto-save. OneNote saves automatically all your content as you go. If you want a separate copy, just export your entire notebook, a section, or a page.

Simplified sharing. Your notes are saved online on OneDrive or SharePoint by default**, so you can send your friends a single link to the same file and be sure that you’re all viewing the latest version.

**Internet connection required; must be signed in with a Microsoft account (OneDrive) or a Office 365 account (SharePoint).

Go and your notes go with you

On your devices. Wherever you go, there they are. Your notes are always available when you use OneNote Mobile apps on Windows Phone, iPhone, iPad, and Android phones. Or, if you're using a browser, just open the OneNote Web App.

OneNote (Windows 8). Draw, type, click, or swipe—OneNote is reimagined for Windows 8. Your notes are saved, searchable, and synced to OneNote apps on your other devices. The new OneNote app is now available through the Windows Store.

A touch-enabled device is required to use any multi-touch functionality. However, all features and functionality are always available by using a keyboard, mouse, or other standard or accessible input device. Note that new touch features are optimized for use with Windows 8.

Additional System Requirements

Some functionality may vary, based on the system configuration. Some features may require additional or advanced hardware or server connectivity.

Note:   System requirements are rounded up to the nearest 0.5GB, to be conservative. For example, if we measure an application’s required hard disk space to be 1.99GB, we recommend 2.5GB of disk space. Our hard disk system requirements are intentionally larger than the actual disk space usage of the software.

A graphics processor helps increase the performance of certain features, such as drawing tables in Excel 2013 or transitions, animations, and video integration in PowerPoint 2013. Use of a graphics processor with Office 2013 requires a Microsoft DirectX 10-compliant graphics processor that has 64MB of video memory. These processors were widely available in 2007. Most computers that are available today include a graphics processor that meets or exceeds this standard. However, if you or your users do not have a graphics processor, you can still run Office 2013.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromAmazing ProductI wish I had this back when I was in High School and College! So jealous of kids these days with the awesome software that is out there for them. I currently use onenote at work and it's the best thing I have discovered. In the process of converting everything else at home onto onenote. I have 2010 onenote at home and was wishing i could convert the tables to Excel and sort things and all that. In 2013, that function is available and I love it!!! This is the BEST piece of software I have ever used!

Rated 4 out of5 by fromGreat for all kinds of things. Only one issue.I love onenote and I wish I had known about it earlier in college. The one issue I have, and perhaps this is just my computer, is the audio recording. Its pretty dodgey at best. It will record sometimes and other times, if it isn't feelin it, it won't. On top of that, the best settings are far from superb. Lots of static, lots of trouble understanding. Even from the front of the classroom. I might try picking up a mic online to see if it helps.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromGreat for school and comparison shoppingI have One Note and must say that I love it. It's easy to get notes from class organized exactly how I want them using the many tools, highlights, and other features of the program. It is also good when doing comparison shopping or research because text or pictures copied and pasted from the internet automatically includes the web address and date from when you originally paste it. Again, I LOVE One Note.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromAs usual I makes life impossible!Recently I downloaded onenote 2013. I've been using one note since 2007 and love it. There is a bug in 2013 when you try and open a link to a file on your local drive. It doesn't matter if it is a previous link from 2010 or a new link that you create.I spent 45 minutes trying to submit the bug to Microsoft. It really shouldn't be that hard.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromAnnoyedI have Windows Vista at home with OneNote 2007. I don't have a particular reason to download Office 7 because it is supposedly STILL SUPPORTED. I have OneNote 2010 at work. NOT 2013. I can't find the download for 2010 which I can run on Vista. Hence, it's utterly incompatible.
