Ratings and reviews

Rated 5 out of5 by fromPerfect for schoolI'm taking classes online for my BSB and my Surface Pro 3 has been a life saver! With the split screen I can read my book on 1 half and take notes using OneNote on the other side. It's perfect for school on the go. I no longer have to carry all of my books, notebooks and binders around...All I need is my SurfaceIt's faster than any laptop or PC I have ever owned. The ONLY thing I would like to see it's a split screen option when I hold it vertically.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromMy Surface Pro 3I bought it a couple weeks ago directly from Microsoft. I was able to get a great discount so I was able to get the model I wanted, I7 - 256gb ssd, 8 gb memory and a free sleeve. Still getting used to it, but so far I love it. Some friends and family are also looking to getting one.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromTop-notch PCI purchased the Surface Pro 3 (128 GB / 4 GB RAM) five months ago, and I can truly say that, although it was an expensive purchase, this device is worth every penny. It's reliable, fast, versatile and powerful. As a tablet, it's a joy to use, especially in portrait mode. The touchscreen is bright, vibrant, and responsive to the slightest touch. My only gripe is that it may feel a little heavy after holding it for a long period of time. As a laptop, the SP3 excels. It runs full-PC applications like Microsoft Office and Spotify with ease, handles multiple open programs without lag, and truly feels like a laptop replacement. Just don't expect graphics to be super-powerful - for the sake of keeping the device slim, Microsoft had to use an integrated graphics chip, and this is noticeable when playing Asphalt 8 - the gameplay isn't super smooth, but you'll still enjoy playing the game. The SP3 has excellent build quality. It just feels really premium when I'm holding it. After the first couple months, I did start noticing several scratch marks on the back - they were unsightly at first but I've gotten used to them and, thankfully, the scratch marks are the same color as the paint, so they don't stand out. Make sure you do not let Surface rest on its back. I made sure my table surfaces were clean and clear but, somehow, the device still got scratch marks. If anything, put it to stand. Otherwise, build quality is great.I love the speakers. For a pair of tweeters integrated onto a tablet, they're pretty good. Bass is a little weak and volume could be louder but, again, these are tablet speakers. Don't expect concert-hall sound quality. To me, they're great for typical music streaming, especially when you're holding the Surface in landscape. The cameras? Meh. I didn't purchase Surface for its cameras, and you shouldn't either. The picture quality on both sides is good, but not great. Selfies and video chats? Yes. Landscape or just regular shots? Sure. Macro and professional? Let's not go there, lol.Wireless connectivity is okay. Wi-Fi is fast and reliable, depending on the speed and strength of your router/hotspot. Bluetooth has given me a lot of trouble ever since I purchased the device. When connected to a mouse, sometimes the connection will just disappear and I have to restart the Bluetooth at least five times before it'll fully work again. No, it's not the mouse. It takes multiple attempts to turn off the Bluetooth radio when this happens, and its frustrating. Maybe that'll be resolved with the upcoming Windows 10 upgrade.Battery life is great, but is highly dependent on how you use Surface. For example, if take it off the charger at 7 AM (100% charge), I'll probably have between 50-15% battery life left by bedtime - all depends on how I use it that day. Also depends on screen brightness and what's using the processor the most. Bottom line, you'll be alright.Overall, I really love my Surface Pro 3. I mean it when I say this: it was worth every penny I'd spent on it. And I'm just about to go off to college, so I'm definitely set.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromBest portable PC everSurf Pro 3 replaced my old Acer W500. As I am a scientist and programmer, I use Surf Pro 3 to do some calculations, develop applications, etc. Also I enjoy playing games (on my desktop PC), but this tablet enables you to play lots of games even if you dont have access to full scaled PC. My version is 128Gb/Core i5, 4Gb RAM. Here is a list of applications I use that run OK on this tablet:Blender,Unity,MS Visual Stdio 2013 (with Blend),Office (works fine with touch and pen),Gimp,Dota 2 (low settings, works fine over wi-fi),Civilization V,Mass Effect 1-3 (3 runs at low screen resolution but still playable),Diablo III,World of Warcraft,Hearthstone (with touch controls),EVE online. The pros of this device:A full PC in your hands. The size of IPad.Fast Win 8.1 (waiting for Win X)Perfect touchscreen with good resolutions and dpiVery comfortable "leg" (dont know how to call it) that fixes position of your tablet (from almost vertical to almost flat). The best solution for such device.Good speakers and cameras.Great typecover (right now I use TypeCover and Surf Pro 3 to write this review).Comfortable and elegant charger port.Magnets used to hold charger in port and typecover. Very comfortable to use.Slot for memory card.MiniDisplayPort for external displays. And, of course, The Pen. The thing that turns your PC into notepad where you can draw pictures or evaluate some equations. The best thing ever. The cons:Only one USB port. That's not enough, it's a full PC, not just a tablet.MiniDIsplayPort. I'd prefer HDMI.I have Core i5 and it boils up to 90 degrees when I play games. The cooler spins very loud trying to vent hot air. Still, if you stop playing game, the tablet cools down in a matter of minutes.Battery. Need more energy stored inside it.The known issue with wi-fi module. Now it works OK but I think it happened due to a very bad wi-fi hardware produced by some low-class company. Unfortunately. To sum up, this device is prefect. If i detach my typecover and take tablet, it is very very small, very thin, but it has a power of a laptop inside. A bold decision. But it is worth it. If you want a tablet and don't want to use some crippled smartphones-with-big-screens (no offence, Apple & Samsung), if you want a PC in you bag, smaller and faster than a laptop, this is your choice. I won't recommend you to buy neither the top version (too expensive), nor the lowest (too slow, not enough storage space). Take a look at other versions suggested in store. I think my version (core i5) is the golden mean. Anyway, thank you, MS, for such device.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromLove it!Only have had it for a couple weeks but I'm in love. Very portable and small but still packs a punch. Highly recommend this machine for people who are on the move a lot, like a college student, and anyone who wants a really neat piece of technology.
