Ratings and reviews

Rated 5 out of5 by fromExcellent "Tech" for a not-so-technical UserLove it! Very easy to adjust to using if you are accustomed to built in mice on most laptop computers. Also, I find that since I have smaller hands, I don't mind the size of the keyboard. It beats typing on a smartphone keyboard most definitely.

Rated 2 out of5 by fromAlright if you don't use the letter 'K' or 'Space'In general it was a good keyboard. The trackpad is terrible but they changed it for the Surface 3. Very shortly after I bought the Type Cover, I noticed I was mistyping 'K' often. I assumed it was me, but now that it is out of warranty my 'K' key is very clearly the culprit. I can get 'K' to work but you have to really hit it hard. And now the 'Space' registers a single press as two presses with some lag in between. To be clear, I'm not hard on the surface and it spends most of its time on a desk. I am a fast typist and it's very frustrating when the sentence "The black duck says quack," shows as "The blac duc s ays q uac." For the price it should definitely lasted longer. The portability of the device as a whole is ruined if I have to bring an external keyboard, and I'm skeptical about spending another $130 for a new one that will only last a year.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromAfter one year, it quit.....bought Mar/2014. Absolutely love it! Two days ago, goofy glitches started happening. Then it refused to work at all... power still goes thru, but no commands. Today, I spent over three hours with support. He finally authorized a replacement. Thank you Microsoft for being fair and honest... Ren 3/22/15.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromExactly what I expectedI have a larger (15.6 inch) laptop that is great for around the house, but it dominates the smaller tables at coffee shops. Because of this, I'd been thinking about adding a second notebook; something more like an ultra light. After some research, I picked up the Type Cover 2 instead for the Surface I already owned. There were many reviewers that said the touchpad is of poor quality. Yes, it isn't ideal, however I find that it gets the job done well enough. The keyboard itself is good though a bit small for my man hands (not surprising based on the physical size of the Surface), but I found I am adjusting to it well enough. The bottom line is that I am happy with the investment and would definitely purchase the cover again.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromDOES NOT WORK WITH FIRST GENERATION SURFACEI have the first Surface and bought this keyboard with much excitement. I took it out of the box and immediately my Surface did not register the keys, only the mouse pad worked. I tried four more keyboards after that and still none of the keys functioned. VERY DISAPPOINTED by Microsoft for making such a faulty keyboard and telling me that it is compatible with my tablet, when it so clearly is not.

Rated 3 out of5 by fromGood Protective CoverOverall just ok. The keyboard is too sensitive and the mouse function leaves a lot to be desired. Finding the right spot to left and right is very hard. As long as track pads have been out, Microsoft failed on this one.
