Ratings and reviews

Rated 5 out of5 by fromI love this OS!At first I was very, very sceptic - Changes are always hard - but after a few weeks I really got used to the system. It never crashes and is made in a very user friendly way. The way of using the 'Metro blocks' as a start botton is actually quite good, you'll have way more space to put your programs and even live updates from apps. As for security, it's good. Even better then the previous onces. I like the way of clicking on the top of an app and dragging it down to close. To bad this doesn't happen with every program (maybe something for improvement?). To keep it short, I love this OS, and keep going Microsoft!

Rated 5 out of5 by fromHaven't had this much fun since XP.Windows 8.1 rocks 100%. Best OS yet, hands down. So much to do, have fun and learn while your at it. Installed on my flash drive, booted right up, configured it and away we go. Love the idea of having a tiles desktop to sync with whatever you wish to do games, read or just amuse yourself.. Then when you want to work and get serious, you switch to the real desktop with just one click. Bam! back to windows 7 atmosphere. Dont understand all the complaining with other folks. Give it a chance it will grow on you.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromWindows 8 is GREAT!!!!I don't understand all the complaints about Windows 8. I personally enjoy using Windows 8. Yeah, it's a new Windows than what we're used to, but once you learn the new interface, it's pretty cool. I have a Surface Pro 2. Sometimes I use it as a tablet, and sometimes I dock it and use it as a desktop. Windows 8 is versatile enough to be used on a tablet and a desktop. That's why I like it.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromgoing back to w. 8.1Used to use windows 7. Going back to windows 8.1 and i have the Windows 10 trail version on another laptop. Hoping for a free upgrade to windows 10 next year. Going to watch the interview on windows 8 after this. I used to have a windows phone and miss it. It's easer than what people make it out to be. Its like apps on a pc don't have to sign in and out of alot of stuff.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromNo use for phone developmentI had a good core2duo laptop but it turned out i cannot use windows phone emulator since it doesn't support virtualization. Then spent a fortune and bought a laptop with Core i3 and Windows 8.1 64 bit only to find that Windows 8.1 PRO version is needed for emulators. Just wanted to shout and curse microsoft for making life difficult for developers. Why do i have to buy a PRO just to use the windows phone emulators. I had enough.... and now moving to android dev.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromdon't upgrade if you might buy a new 8.1 computerMy old computer and the emails, settings and configurations won't migrate to my new computer because Windows 8.1 refuses to acknowledge that it might be on an "old" computer. Windows easy transfer will not recognize an existing 8.1 system as the former computer with settings that need to be transferred to a new computer. MIght change the rating to 4 stars if Microsoft solves this little glitch.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromNext !!! Back to Windows 7 Pro !!!I thought i would finally break down and upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro. Well, $200 later, I am sad. First, the install failed to load without errors. I removed the SSD and performed a clean install to a 500Gb HDD. Installed fined that time. I then installed some of needed software for work. Well that was a bust to. So now I have a tablet gui workstation that is useless to me.
