Rated 1 out of5 by fromnot for hard workfirst of all i bougth this because microsoft was not able to sell me a license or legal copy or key of windows 7, lets say that i was forced to buy this one. the OS works good bur jusr good. first of all is not for pc's, and that's why microsoft should be available the windows7 because is the most stable windows at the date for PC'S. windows 8 still need more work on compatibility mainly if you are a serious pc worker and not an facebook or youtube user, again......... this windows 8 work good, but w7 is and im gonna repeat it "IS" an exelent OS• for now i got my hope on the w10 that it seen's more like 7's.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromEasy transition and fairly stablePretty easy to pick up if you're familiar with previous versions, slight frustrations on a few things. One major problem is the dependence on an internet connection; if your computer is locked and you don't have an internet connection, it tries to validate your PW through your MS ID, so I was stranded unable to access the client because it had no way of validating my PW when trying to unlock the client. For that alone I would probably use Windows 7 if I had to do it all over again.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromGreat OSI love this software! I bought one copy for my sister, that she uses on her Mac to draw with classic Microsoft Paint and the new Modern UI Fresh Paint. As for myself, I was going to hold out until Windows 10, but when I heard about all Windows 8.1 Update users getting Windows 10 for free, I couldn't hold back. I regularly use Windows 10 Pro Insider Technical Preview build 10130 just to see the new features, and I can't wait to see that dream become a reality. I mean, seriously, Continuum, integration with Windows, iOS, and Android phones, a new browser that supports extensions, and even an Xbox app! But in the meantime, Windows 8.1 Pro is pretty cool.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromBumpy start excellent follow throughMy issues with Windows 8 boiled down to a Asus Wireless N card. It turned out the Wireless card was junk and Asus couldn't be bothered to make a decent driver for it. Once I pulled the card Windows 8 has been fantastic. I have a Mac and my custom built PC and I feel like in many ways Windows 8 is better then OS X Yosemite. The only thing Microsoft isn' doing is bundling Office with Windows. For sake of keeping this from being a super long winded review I'll go over the things I like over Windows 7.The task manager is way more detailed. The start bar is displayed on each screen. You can set the start bars to only show the icon of the program when the program is on that screen. The dialog windows are more detailed. The lock screen is very interesting to look at. The setting of the computer are saved to your account online so new computers or reemerged computers get their settings as soon as they connect so no more setting up each machine overtime windows is installed. This came in very handy when I switched to a SSD drive for my boot drive.Things I don't like or confused me at firstI kind of miss aero. I'm getting used to it being gone but I'd the option of having it again. Not a big deal but a first impression. I would not trade the features of windows 8 to get it back though by going to window 7.The start screen takes a little while to get used to until you realize you can click the start key on your keyboard and type the name of the program you are looking for and it brings it right up and enter opens it. So it's like a full screen start menu with interesting tiles you can pin to the front of it.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromNew Skills NeededI have looked forward to moving from Win 7 Pro to Win 8.1, but was not ready for the learning curve to get to what I was accustomed too my main page. I will take a few more weeks until I adjust to the new software.
