Additional System Requirements

Some functionality may vary, based on the system configuration. Some features may require additional or advanced hardware or server connectivity.

Microsoft account required.

Note:   System requirements are rounded up to the nearest 0.5GB, to be conservative. For example, if we measure an application’s required hard disk space to be 1.99GB, we recommend 2.5GB of disk space. Our hard disk system requirements are intentionally larger than the actual disk space usage of the software.

A graphics processor helps increase the performance of certain features, such as drawing tables in Excel 2013 or transitions, animations, and video integration in PowerPoint 2013. Use of a graphics processor with Office 2013 requires a Microsoft DirectX 10-compliant graphics processor that has 64MB of video memory. These processors were widely available in 2007. Most computers that are available today include a graphics processor that meets or exceeds this standard. However, if you or your users do not have a graphics processor, you can still run Office 2013.

FAQ

How do I know if my computer or device can run the new Office?

You can install Office on PCs or Windows tablets running Windows 7 or higher, Macs with Mac OS X 10.6 or higher, iPads running iOS 7.0 or higher, and on Android tablets running KitKat 4.4.

Is Internet access required for Office?

Internet access is required to install and activate all the latest releases of Office suites and all Office 365 subscription plans. For subscription versions of Office including Office 365 Personal you will need to go online to manage your subscription account, for example to install Office on other machines, or to change billing options. You will also need to connect to the Internet regularly to keep your version of Office up-to-date and benefit from automatic upgrades. Internet connectivity is also required to access the Office 365 cloud services such as OneDrive.

Can I install the new Office on my Mac?

The applications available for Mac users and the version numbers may be different from those available for PC users. If you have an active Office 365 Home, Office 365 Personal, or Office 365 University subscription, and available installs, you can install Office on your Mac, which includes the Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook applications. The OneNote, Publisher, and Access applications are not available for Mac. Current Office application versions for Office 365 are Office 2013 for Windows and Office for Mac 2011. Customers with an active subscription will be entitled to the newest versions when available.

What are Skype minutes?

You can use Skype minutes to call friends or family with or without a Skype account on their mobile phone or landline. Just dial from Skype and your friends and family can pick up on their phone. Each active Office 365 Home, Personal and University subscription is entitled to 60 minutes of Skype minutes per month, which can be used to make Skype calls to phones in over 60 countries /regions. Office 365 Home subscribers can share a subscription with up to four members of their household, and each person will get 60 Skype minutes per month. Your Skype minutes will be applied to a new or existing Skype account. Each month you will receive 60 Skype minutes. Your Skype allowance resets each month. Special, premium and non-geographic numbers cannot be called using Skype. Calls to mobiles are for select countries only. Skype minutes available in select countries.

How much OneDrive storage do customers get?

Customers with an active Office 365 Personal subscription receive an additional 1TB of OneDrive storage. This additional storage is not available during trial periods. This additional 1TB of OneDrive storage is applied to the OneDrive account that is linked to the Microsoft account used to create the Office 365 subscription account.

Can people with another Office version open documents I create with Office 365 Personal?

Yes, a person with a previous version of Microsoft Office can easily open documents created with Office 365 Personal applications. Office 2007, Office 2010, Office 365, or Office 2013 users can open documents created using the latest release of Office applications without any additional action. Customers using earlier versions of Office may need to download and install a compatibility pack.

Ratings and reviews

Rated 5 out of5 by fromOffice 365 for a single userI just got this, and even though I see some bad reviews, it seems the bad reviews are for MAC users. Once the purchase was made, the download email came quickly, about 45 minutes later. I just hit the download button, and the executable was quickly put into my download folder. I run it and it installs without any real need to monitor the process. It doesn't overlay older versions of MS Office (I have 2010 also installed) so I'm grateful for that. Now I have a complete MS Office suite, and it all works fine, with all the latest bells and whistles.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromTerrible Product, Do Not Buy.I've had this product for a year and I have had nothing but trouble with Office 365 ever since I installed it on my computer. I have used previous iterations of the Office Suite for daily use at my job and never had any problems till now.Ever since I started using Office 365 last March, Word is constantly crashing. About twice an hour it will stop working and crash. The program will then spend time attempting to figure out what is wrong as if that actually does anything. Then after Word reboots, it opens up the last several documents that have already long been closed. Other times when I close a document, Word will change the font to Wingdings or another kind, and sometimes will even change the margins as well. When I open up an old document it won't actually open up on top of everything, it just says that it is. Other times I'll try and close a document and Word will just crash instead. Furthermore, after I install macros, they inexplicably get deleted without cause.I never had these problems with past versions of the Office Suite but have had nothing but problems ever since buying this product.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromNo Complaints So Far!I like to read reviews, if available, before I make a purchase. I have always used Microsoft Office and I, like the next person, want to have the latest and greatest version of anything. After reading the reviews, I didn't think I would like it but I purchased it anyhow; and love it, and have absolutely no complaints! The changes are too minor, in my opinion, to make a lot of noise about so I would definitely recommend it to others.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromYear leaseHaving to essentially buy the program every year is such a dumb idea especially when there are plenty of replacement programs and apps that do practically the same thing as the various office programs for free. If I buy a product, I want the product for good not having to rent it.
