Installation and FAQ

How do I install Office?

After purchase, you can install Office at www.office.com/myaccount. For more information, see the FAQ.

What's the difference between Office 365 plans and Office 2016 suites?

Office 365 plans include the complete suite of Office applications, plus other services that are enabled over the Internet, including extra cloud storage with OneDrive and Skype minutes for home use. With Office 365 you get the full, installed Office experience on PCs, Macs, tablets (including Windows, iPad, and Android) and smartphones. Office 365 plans are available as a monthly or annual subscription. With Office 365, upgrades are always included with your subscription.

Office 2016 suites, including Office Home & Student and Home & Business, include applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote; they are available as a one-time purchase for use on a single PC or Mac. The applications are not automatically updated; to get the latest version, you must purchase Office again when the new version becomes available.

Ratings and reviews

Rated 2 out of5 by frommiserable experience getting this softwareI would love to review this software, but after 2 hours trying to actually claim and install my purchase, I'm still unable to open a single program. Missing the days when you physically bought something and didn't have to sign onto fifty different accounts and still be left with nothing.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromMost of the products usefulness has been removedI bought this product for the use of the grammar and style checking abilities. However it appears that Microsoft has done away with most of this capabilities including the passive voice checker which is necessary for any academic work. With out these features any free word editor can do most of the formatting that this program can do. This product is worthless. Attempting to return it now but the website seems to have me in some sort of loop of links to click on to return the item.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromSuprised LossesI was happy to hear of this new release, Office 2016 and ordered three licenses. I was extremely upset with the Download/Installation process and the fact that I could not purchase the CD's for the Office product as with my last four previous versions.Following the Installation, ALL MS Office products were removed, even if purchased separately (i.e. Publisher or Access) and only had independent installs of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and force to install Note. The previous traditional oversight program of MS Office is gone! Each of the individual components had to be separately initiated and if desired, they each had to be opened and Pinned to the Task Bar and the other steps to replace the white icons for remaining from previous the Office products that were removed, whether purchased separately or bundled with a previous Office Package, with the new shortcut icons for the installed programs.

Rated 2 out of5 by fromNot so sureI was surprised I had to get a new Office for Windows 10...That Office 2013 would NOT work. After getting Office 2016, I still can NOT get the EXCEL 2016 to open up 'Older" issued .xlse files that I transfer into my email from another computer. I am not happy with it for that reason. Word works aright off the bat, not so for Excel.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromSoftware subscriptions for home users is terribleSoftware subscriptions for home users is a terrible idea. Most people don't want another monthly bill on top of all the bills we already pay. Let me buy the software outright and I'll buy new versions as I need them. This is a business model that I pray dies quickly.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromDoes what I needExcel and PowerPoint work like always. OneNote is sometimes hard to predict. Some documents load as a single document and some load page by page. Word is very slow starting up but then runs fine. Once I have it open I just leave it "idling" until I have something else to work on.

Rated 3 out of5 by fromProbably A Wonderful Suite if You Actually ReviewUnless you are willing to sit through the ENTIRE instruction video and programs, you are going to be lost! A lot of nice features that are meaningless to those who've used Word and Powerpoint and Excel fo the last 20 or more years!
