Installation and FAQ

How do I install Office?

After purchase, you can install Office at www.office.com/myaccount. For more information, see the FAQ.

What's the difference between Office 365 plans and Office 2016 suites?

Office 365 plans include the complete suite of Office applications, plus other services that are enabled over the Internet, including extra cloud storage with OneDrive and Skype minutes for home use. With Office 365 you get the full, installed Office experience on PCs, Macs, tablets (including Windows, iPad, and Android) and smartphones. Office 365 plans are available as a monthly or annual subscription. With Office 365, upgrades are always included with your subscription.

Office 2016 suites, including Office Home & Student and Home & Business, include applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote; they are available as a one-time purchase for use on a single PC or Mac. The applications are not automatically updated; to get the latest version, you must purchase Office again when the new version becomes available.

Ratings and reviews

Rated 3 out of5 by fromExcel, Word Pwr Point OK - Outlook NGExcel, Word and Power Point work as expected. Outlook and Contacts no where as flexible and convenient as the completion. Best example is being able to click on a phone number and have you mobile phone dialing it for you. I major inconvenience so much so that now I only use Excel, Word and Power Point.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromwhere to begin... the worst, do not buy.Had to upgrade to 2016 for work. This product is unusable. I work mostly in excel with medium size documents. There are so many bugs I can't list them all here, but here are some: The cursor does not show up correctly in the formula window, the scroll bars flicker and are completely unreliable, when hitting return when entering a value from another sheet the view will return to the original sheet in a totally random location usually a few hundred cells to the right of any information, scrolling when the format tab is open often causes the program to scroll to the AAAA column, the scroll wheel does not reliably control the scrolling, etc. etc. Honestly I could go on and on. This is literally the most buggy commercial program I have ever used. And it's excel. And it's 2016.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromVery frustratingI just downloaded this product a few days ago and have had major issues with Word and Excel hanging. I've been using Office 2008 which seems more stable but outdated. I hope the glitches are worked out soon.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromExcelBeen working forever on Excel. This version Office 365 is not stable on MAC. Really not a good version.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromAvoid if you're an Excel userExcel is only using 1 processor so it makes it nearly impossible to use. It's a major step backwards for any power user.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromActivation is a mess.Product was very difficult to download and activate; It was difficult to locate the download location (Link in email from online purchase didn't work), Couldn't find any place to enter the product code and had to call support (1 hour on the phone) only to find that there were a half dozen other steps required to activate: Not made clear anywhere. Took my laptop over seas on vacation, started up Word and got an error that my product was not activated, nothing worked (Worked for a week prior to my trip). Contacted support when I got back and was told that my product is "regionalized" but not offered any clear solution as the "region" I travel to doesn't have a version of Office..

Rated 1 out of5 by fromMicrosoft lives up to their reputationI own a brand new 2015 Macbook and installed all of the office products. Loading normal spreadsheets without macros or anything suspect, Excel crashes 4-5 times for every two hours of use. Outlook stops responding several times a day, and Word starts reformatting my document right before crashing. I send my crash reports every time. Its embarrassing that Microsoft would release a product like this.Only reason I use this product is I'm forced to by its prevalence in the business community.
