Sometimes if i start writing too fast and don't allow the cursor to "hover", I'll get an incomplete writing, then have to delete and start over again. Kind of annoying. You have to be VERY CAREFUL with the battery replacement and you need to understand the instructions very carefully. If you don't, you'll tear the very thin contact inside the cylinder of the pen, resulting in failure, like say the eraser will stop working. Don't force it back in, make sure the barrel with an indentation is aligned with the "big rectangular, silver" contact, then insert, and twist back. if you mis-align and force it in, you'll regret it.

Rated 5 out of5 byGizmoZap fromBest Surface Pen To DateI bought this for my Surface Pro 3. So far it's been an amazing upgrade. The 1054 levels of pressure sensitivity don't come into play unless you're on a Surface Pro 4, but I have noticed a significant difference between this pen and the one that came with my SP3. The changeable pen nibs have make a big difference as well, and I can't get enough of it. This has been an incredible upgrade. I need to thank Microsoft for making it backwards compatible. Thank you for thinking of the people that have bought past products and not leaving us in the cold when new stuff comes out. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Rated 5 out of5 byMobilePASSION fromThis is a MUST have for the SP3I had been happy with the old SP3 stylus until I got to try out this new stylus. I can wholeheartedly recommend doing this upgrade! Oh my goodness the feel is so much more natural as you write across screen. It comes with 4 tips but I have been loving the default HB. I just use my fingernails and pinch the tip and pull it straight out to replace the tips. The feel of the new stylus is better in my hand because the buttons are not in the way anymore and the new flat surface along the barrel makes it more comfortable to hold. The biggest welcome change for me was the new button placements. On the old stylus I would accidentally trigger one of the two buttons regularly but this new one solved the problem completely for me by hiding the select button under the flat strip. The eraser button on top is intuitive yet also prevents me from accidental triggers again not to mention the resistive feel against the screen is also very natural. The top button also serves to trigger OneNote app or a long press serves up Cortana which is nice. The battery is accessible by turning the top only a 1/8 turn (don't "unscrew" it) then pull apart the barrels. I appreciate that there is paper battery orientation tag that slides conveniently around the battery.I have read complaints about the magnet not sticking as well on the SP3 versus the SP4 which is true however I think it is a little misguided advice because even on the SP4 with the much stronger hold the stylus is still easily dislodged with a bump. The SP3 style loop is MUCH more secure in holding the stylus and it fits great with my new stylus. My secondary location for the styulus is on the crease of the keyboard like it shows in the photos of the new Type Keyboard. BTW: I also highly recommend the upgrade with the new Type Keyboard with Fingerprint ID. I have been using these two together and it is almost like I got a new system with the improvements these two accessories brought to the SP3. I use the Fingerprint ID flawless. It is super quick. I just wished they had put backlight around the sensor and trackpad.Suggestions for improvement:- Allow the top button to be configurable to trigger a user selective app. For me that would be OneNote (desktop) but for others it could be Fresh Paint or a Music writing program.- Have a tiny thin slot the width of the stylus shirt clip in the upper left corner of the case. This would allow us to physically slide the stylus clip and secure it more robustly with the existing magnets still holding it as well in that position.- On the back of the battery orientation tag have it blank so we can write the owners contact info in case it is lost and some good hearted soul wants to return it ;-)- Have some 3rd skins available for the barrel to customize the look like we do with the Surface Pro.

I have the Surface Pen 4 and it works great. It is a more 'humanistic' way of computing. I write all my notes electronically now using the Pen with OneNote. I scan all my documents, receipts, and forms into the PC and mark them up with the Pen and Drawboard. Between the Pen and the two apps mentioned, it covers much of what I would do on paper. The benefit though of writing and marking things in the electronic world is that I do not loose them and can easily manage where I save the documents and have quick access to the documents from any device such as my Windows Phone. It is a great product to own and to give as a gift. One addition note, my 8 year old son loves writing with the Pen as well and uses it at time for school projects.

Rated 5 out of5 byMowerman fromFixed the problems with the Surface Pro 3 penI was always hitting the erase button with the old pen. Went back to the intuitive pencil eraser. Also put a little friction when writing. Major improvement. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of5 byjayinatlanta fromPerfect pen!Excellent pen! I bought this with the SP4 fingerprint scanning keyboard and now my Surface Pro 3 has many of the new features of the SP4. As for this pen, it's a lot better: a) it has a button very nicely integrated into the pen so it is almost part of the pen body, b) the eraser is awesome - thank goodness it's back like on the original Surface Pro AND it's better than ever because it feels like rubber on the screen, c) the functions like going to OneNote work INSTANTLY, d) the tips you get give a lot of variety of how much friction you get on the screen. I truly don't see how Microsoft could have nailed this better!
