Ratings and reviews

Rated 5 out of5 by fromLove it!I wasn't happy with the original Windows 8 --I found it was too difficult to shut down the computer, the lack of a start button was annoying among other things. Windows 8.1 was a different experience. The fusion of the the traditional desktop with touch screen capabilities is perfect on my DELL touchscreen laptop. On my desktop, Windows 8.1 has the simplicity of Linux with features we've come to expect from Windows like snapping windows, right-click cut and paste.

Rated 3 out of5 by fromApps & SpeedI do not find the apps useful for a desktop PC. I prefer to use a browser to navigate directly to a site I want to use rather than launching an App.Also This release of Windows is noticeably slower than Window 7. I mostly use MS Office programs, Web surfing , and video playback/streaming.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromI REALLY "Love" Windows 8.1 ProI've been using 8.1 in all of the college labs and on my laptop. I've customized My metro interface Start menus "to the hilt" and am extremely disappointed / angry that Supposedly it will not available in Windows 10! At Age 62, the Windows 7 Start menu is too small and often difficult to read.
