Required Hard Disk Space

3.0 GB available

Required Display

Graphics hardware acceleration requires a DirectX 10 graphics card and 1024 x 576 resolution

3.5, 4.0, or 4.5

Multi-touch

A touch-enabled device is required to use any multi-touch functionality. However, all features and functionality are always available by using a keyboard, mouse, or other standard or accessible input device. Note that new touch features are optimised for use with Windows 8.

Additional System Requirements

Some functionality may vary, based on the system configuration. Some features may require additional or advanced hardware or server connectivity.

Note:   System requirements are rounded up to the nearest 0.5 GB, to be conservative. For example, if we measure an application’s required hard disk space to be 1.99 GB, we recommend 2.5 GB of disk space. Our hard disk system requirements are intentionally larger than the actual disk space usage of the software.

A graphics processor helps increase the performance of certain features, such as drawing tables in Excel 2013 or transitions, animations, and video integration in PowerPoint 2013. Use of a graphics processor with Office 2013 requires a Microsoft DirectX 10-compliant graphics processor that has 64 MB of video memory. These processors were widely available in 2007. Most computers that are available today include a graphics processor that meets or exceeds this standard. However, if you or your users do not have a graphics processor, you can still run Office 2013.

FAQ

How do I know if my computer or device can run the new Office?

You can install Office on PCs or Windows tablets running Windows 7 or higher, Macs with Mac OS X 10.6 or higher, iPads running iOS 7.0 or higher, and on Android tablets running KitKat 4.4.

Is Internet access required for Office?

Internet access is required to install and activate all the latest releases of Office suites and all Office 365 subscription plans. For subscription versions of Office including Office 365 Home you will need to go online to manage your subscription account, for example to install Office on other machines, or to change billing options. You will also need to connect to the Internet regularly to keep your version of Office up-to-date and benefit from automatic upgrades. Internet connectivity is also required to access the Office 365 cloud services such as OneDrive.

Can I install the new Office on my Mac?

The applications available for Mac users and the version numbers may be different from those available for PC users. If you have an active Office 365 Home or Office 365 University subscription, and available installs, you can install Office on your Mac, which includes the Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook applications. The OneNote, Publisher, and Access applications are not available for Mac. Current Office application versions for Office 365 are Office 2013 for Windows and Office 2011 for Mac. Customers with an active subscription will be entitled to the newest versions when available.

What are Skype minutes?

How much OneDrive storage do customers get?

This additional 1TB of OneDrive storage is applied to the OneDrive accounts that are linked to the Microsoft account used to create the Office 365 subscription account and any other account (up to four) that the subscription purchaser decides to share their subscription benefits with.

I thought Office 365 was for business. What’s changed?

Office 365 remains a great option for businesses, with plans designed for companies of all sizes, from individual consultants to enterprises. New for this release is Office 365 Small Business Premium, which is designed for businesses with 1 to 10 employees.

Can people with another Office version open documents I create with Office 365 Home?

Yes, a person with a previous version of Microsoft Office can easily open documents created with Office 365 Home applications. Office 2007, Office 2010, Office 365, or Office 2013 users can open documents created using the latest release of Office applications without any additional action. Customers using earlier versions of Office may need to download and install a compatibility pack.

Ratings and reviews

Rated 1 out of5 by fromNot enough "Professional" FeaturesLove the fact that you can install for five users. Love the fact it is Cloud-based and allows install of Office on the desktop/laptop PCs. HATE the fact that you can't register your own domain against it. HATE the fact you don't get SharePoint to be able to create a "family" website, or Lync, or more of those features to enable "easy" sharing (such as those features available in the Small Business edition. PLEASE Microsoft, make the Home edition the same as the Small Business Edition (at the same price as the current "Home" edition. Would even consider a £110 a year sub for the features of Small Business Edition, if it was available for five users on one sub?

Rated 1 out of5 by fromHow does it work and where do my emails go?I have had a lot of trouble with this computer. It came with windows seven and is upgraded to 8.1 adding Office 365 recently.I have frequently had the computer checked by professionals of all types from Windows, Suppliers, lenovo partners and yet it still does not work.If I was paid £/hour on the time I have tried to get it to work I would be able to employ a PA.Why this is so I do not know, but it has taken me four and a half hours to scan one document and I have now got to look for it, it has been delivered to my ancient smart phone but not my computer. With out a solution I shall be looking for an Apple product and soon. So, No I am not enjoying Windows 8.1 nor Office 365.

Rated 2 out of5 by fromMixed bagNice to have up-to-date versions and no bother about storing media etc.However.....not without its problems. On two occasions I've received error messages along the lines of "MS PowerPoint" is "unavailable"??? The second time I was standing in front of a large audience preparing to give a lecture! Not the best advertisement for Office 365! Luckily I was helped out by a colleagues laptop but reliability is clearly an issue. The problem in both instances was solved by de-installing and re-installing but if it happens again I won't renew my subscription and will go back to "Real Office".

Rated 3 out of5 by fromA lot of us still use Windows VistaI purchased the Office 365 subscription expecting it to work on up to five computers however one of our computers is Windows Vista and it will only work with Windows 7 and Windows 8, so that computer is now without Office. There are also a lot of differences between the Office product on the PC and the Office product on the Mac. One of the advantages I was expecting from sticking with Office when I got a Mac is the consistency in the user experience, however that has provided not to be the case. I also cannot use all the applications on the Mac, which is also very disappointing.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromFantastic Value for Money! For £80 I have got the most important MS applications for myself and my three daughters, and another installation for my Windows VM ( we all use Macs normally ) and on our iPads and iPhones. As you can see, we're an Apple household - but credit where it's due - MS have excelled themselves with this!On top of this, we've all got 1TB of cloud storage ( calculate how much 5TB would cost from DropBox or Apple ! ) and 60 minutes a month of skype calls to landlines each.Stunning Value for money - it would be more than worth it just for the cloud storage!

Rated 4 out of5 by fromIntegrated set of productsI moved to Office 365 mainly because Outlook 2003 is no longer supported and I did have the odd problem with it. The clincher to persuade me to move was the inclusive 1tb Onedrive. All the products are different to previous versions but the learning is pretty easy. Migration from my older product set (a mixture of 2003, 2007 & 2010) was trouble free. It's probably the best set of integrated office products in the market - though some competitors appear to have odd features which are better (e.g. Evernote clipping of web browser info).

Rated 5 out of5 by fromTime saving and enjoyable. As a writer I find Office Word invaluable and time saving. Revision is so much easier of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors, many of which I correct as I write, but it is always surprising how many small mistakes I miss during my eagerness to type my stories. There are so many useful features also including easy insertions and formatting options, and thesaurus. The current price is very good value. Also the Publisher and One Note features are often very useful. All the Office Home 365 features add to the enjoyment of writing.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromAll of Office, everywhere, and always up-to-dateOf course, the MS Office products are well known and are pretty much the de facto standard for word processing, spreadsheets, etc., but now I can have those products on any of my devices - even my iPad - and they're always up-to-date for a regular monthly fee. Plus I get loads of OneDrive space for free so I can also access my documents and photos anywhere.
