Ratings and reviews

Rated 5 out of5 by fromBest Bang for the buck!Bought this on Black Friday but don't let that put you off...you can get it for the same price I paid when it goes on sale. Great laptop. 1080p screen that is clear and bright, a hard drive that is big and surprisingly fast. Eight gigs of ram, nice low light web cam, optical dvd drive (hard to find these days) and a cpu that gets the job done and doesn't throw off much heat. What is not to like? Well the keyboard might not be everyone's cup of tea. It feels a little flimsy and there is not much travel to the keys. But my wife says she likes it because the keys are "easy to press." So its a big thumbs up here, especially for the sale price.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromVery solid laptop for the price!I bought this laptop over two months ago and I love it! Its fast, it has solid features, the backlit keyboard is amazing, and I don't mind the battery life either. The nice thing about the battery is its removable so if it starts fading away you can buy a replacement and its easy to do, all the new laptops these days seem to have it in a un-easy access point, but this one is like the older laptops. The keyboard is amazing to type on and the touch pad is very slick. Good value for your money, I searched and reviewed laptops for month before I bought this one and I couldn't be more happier! I got it on sale so watch for those!

Rated 5 out of5 by fromDo not miss this sale opportunity on this notebookI service laptops for a living and have dealt with more than 3000 laptops in the last 10 years of all kinds and brands. I must tell you that this model is way underpriced at its sale price. I mean it...way underpriced. Some may find hardisk bottlenecks, but can upgrade if they want, other than that the RAM, the Display, the casing robustness beats any laptop. I must also tell you that I receive minimum number of IBM Thinkpads for repairs closely followed by Dell Inspiron models after 2014.Do not miss this opportunity to buy. This is one of the best laptops in the price, performance and robustness range ,

Rated 3 out of5 by fromGood laptop for moneyOverall it's good laptop for the money, compared to the rest of the laptops in the market. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and here is the Pros & Cons:Pros:- 6th gen i5-6200U- Display (1920x1080)- Decent audio speakers- It's quiet, due to the fact, that on battery mode the CPU fan is off.Cons:- Hard drive is only 5400rpm. which is the bottleneck of the whole system speed. (Can be replace by SSD though)- Both of 2 memory slots are occupied by 2x4GB sticks of memory- Storage activity and battery indicator light are combined, so you can see either battery light or storage activity at a time.- Flimsy DVD drive

Rated 3 out of5 by fromGood with some modificationHave had the laptop for about a week. It was painfully slow out of the box due to 5400 rpm 1TB drive. I stuck the SSD from my previous laptop in, running Ubuntu and woke the thing up. There's some comments about "spring board" keyboad but I don't find that bothers me. The keyboard layout, however, is taking some getting used to as it's offset due to full number pad. Would be better without number pad. Overall construction is on the cheaper side. The SATA HD connection is sketchy, not robust. I was scared I was going to rip the thing apart.Good if you can get it on sale (almost half price), but replacing the HD is a must.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromNothing comparesFirst, floored by the low price, get this while it lasts. This model has it all, box stores and Manufacturer sell lower versions with less features at higher prices? Appreciate the absence of bloatware; boots up and is ready to go within 30 seconds, even after entering my password, backlit keyboard!, 8gb ram, true 1080 HD touch screen, case has high end quality feel (opposed to the cheap plastic finger print loving variety). Downside, it's heavy. Considered splurging to the convertible core i7 but am happy I chose this version, the novelty would have worn out in a week anyways and house guests would think I'm a show off flipping the screen 180 degrees. At least I get a DVD drive, not that I need it.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromBest B Friday Deal EverBeen waiting for a price like this. Second laptop purchase from Microsoft Store over 2yrs. Best: Price on Blk Friday found anywhere in CD. FHD 1080p screen nice and bright even at 50% in bright room with great viewing angles, good colors. Battery Ok for 3hrs. Fan stays quiet until stressed but fan noise not loud as of old laptops. Core i5 good balance between power and price. Solid case and easy to upgrade.Keyboard backlit, feels cheap but actually typing on it Ok. Not Best: Slow hdd and memory. Upgraded to: Corsair Veng 16gb CL9 RAM, Crucial 3d nand SSD with storage exec running, replaced dvd drive with hdd caddy with default hdd ( gives 40 MB/s transfer speeds now through dvd interface). Upgraded System: Rocks.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromFirt time purchase from MS Store! Great Service!I am a volunteer tester in the Windows Insider Group. This PC is only running the Released Windows 10 edition. The speed and functions work as expected save Cortana. I have been working with MS Support to solve Cortana not hearing my voice at all using the built-in Mic. Every other voice function including OS control by voice all work flawlessly. My solution has resulting in using a plugged in headset with Mic to control Cortana. Future releases I hope will address this small issue. The Windows Hello is a very useful assist to privacy and PC login.Overall, the response is fast and I do not have issues with the large slower HD. The Touch Screen has made me put my mouse away forever. Have not used it on day on this PC and frankly have not missed it at all.
