Ratings and reviews

Rated 4 out of5 by fromExcellent valueI have been using Lumia 950 xl for 4 months. It had to go for possible warranty repair so I needed a phone until the it comes back. I saw the Lumia 650 at the store and the price was just right. I also felt it would be an excellent backup as my wife also has Lumia 640 XL. I have used it for only one day and am impressed with how it compared the flagship 950 xl for what I do. I have used it for usual internet related activities browsing and reading email. I have used it to read ebook on the subway and at the end of the day tested the GPS and music output to my car with Bluetooth connection. Except for the low volume on GPS it could replace 950 xl for my need.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromgreat phone and the low price is a bonusI saw this phone in a US Microsoft Store and then bought one at home here in Canada. I really like the dual SIM feature for travel and Windows 10 is a vast improvement over Windows Mobile 8.x It does have some annoyances "out of the box" - if you use headphones the phone does not ring and for all calls the maximum ringer volume is too low. Speaker phone is very low quality. And it being a Windows phone there are virtually no worthwhile apps. But overall a great buy and I'd recommend it to anyone who needs a smartphone rather than an app device. My only concern is what is going to happen in the future if Microsoft is selling its phone business.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromExcellent!Coming from the 920 I wanted another Windows Phone. No cellular providers are caring the 950 in Canada and I did not want to spend the money to buy it outright so I opted for the 650 and I am more than happy I did! Everything is working well and I have not had any issue with the speed. For those who are complaining about the speed it is no secret that it is slower then the 950 but its also $500 cheaper. So far its exactly what I would think the 950 would be like minus a few features. Good Job Microsoft.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromA worthy upgrade for a good priceComing from a Lumia 920 with Windows 10 technical preview on it, and the 650 is solid upgrade from that. The phone runs well, apps open quickly, it looks and feels pretty great to hold. The battery life good - I can get through the day and a little bit extra on a single charge. The camera is serviceable - It's just fine during the day but is a little sloppy in low light. However using the flash can remedy this.Overall I'd say I'm satisfied with the 650, and would recommend for those looking for a reasonable cheap phone with pretty solid performance.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromMuch More Than What You Pay For! ...Much MoreI bought this to replace my busted L950xl, and I actually did not expect it to be as good as it is. Don't get me wrong, it's not a L950XL, but it works as good as any phone I've ever owned. It looks and feels great, W10 is fluid, the camera is pretty good and it has a nice screen. Windows Store has plenty of Apps, one or two missing IMO, is no match for the overall experience with the L650. I highly recommend this phone for business, student and the budget minded user whose looking for a very capable device.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromQuality Phone, low Price and works with WindI have had this phone for 2 weeks now and it's hard to put down. The Lumia 650 build quality is excellent and this phone is light and thin. The OLED display is crystal clear and useable in sunlight. Having a dual sim, unlocked phone is useful. Wind Mobile is my main account and I also use a Rogers prepaid account on the second sim. Out of the box, Windows 10 Mobile gets an update and there are more updates coming soon. All apps written for Windows 10 look great on this phone but it runs older apps too. If you have a Windows 10 PC this phone makes an excellent companion.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromGreat phone for the priceI've made the switch from a high powered Android phone to the Lumia 650. I've never before had a windows phone device. Why did I make the switch? Well...- I can now see missed calls when at my desk on my docked Surface Pro 3- I can respond to missed calls with a text message from my desktop- I can use Cortana on my desktop to send text messages.- I can use Cortana while I'm driving (hands free) to schedule an appointment on my Office 365 calendar. Previously I was using Google now on my Android which would only save the appointment to my gmail calendar. I would then have to manually switch the appointment to my MS Exchange when I wasn't driving if I remembered.- I was already using Microsoft's Groove music service and the Films & TV service. I used the Groove app on my Android but now also have access to my Films & TV on my phone.- I've been using Edge over Chrome recently. My favorites and reading list now sync between desktop and phone. I've been told that the anniversary update this summer will allow Edge to sync favorites to sync to the Xbox One.- I can more easily email distribution lists on my phone. I have to build my "group" in the People app but can then pin it for quick access to my start screen.- I'm not so concerned with the app gap as the mobile web has been getting better and better. Now about the Lumia 650:The build quality looks amazing. You wouldn't think this phone was mid tier by looking at it.The Snapdragon 212 processor isn't the fastest. I won't be playing any games on this phone. However the start menu and apps I use are snappy and responsive. One thing I have noticed is downloading and installs take a long time. You do need some patience. The first time you turn on the phone it needs several minutes just to get to the configuration screen. I also noticed that downloading films and music takes a long time. My Android phone with the Groove app downloaded music far faster. I expect that the much more expensive Lumia 950 would solve all of that. But I didn't buy this device for speed.I really like that this phone has 2 SIM card slots as well as Micro SD. I no longer have to fumble around with changing my SIM card when I leave the country. The 8MP camera isn't the greatest resolution on a phone but it suits my needs. The purchase experience:I bought this at the Microsoft Store in Metrotown. I have found that the staff there are always super helpful and friendly. This time was no different. I would highly recommend purchasing products at the Microsoft store over any of the other big box stores. Their customer service experience is second to none. The bottom line: Don't get this phone for speed or gaming. Do get this phone if you are on a budget and want to be more productive and connected with other Window devices.
