Installation and FAQ

After purchase, you can install Office at www.office.com/myaccount. For more information, see the FAQ.

What's the difference between Office 365 plans and Office 2016 suites?

Office 365 plans include the complete suite of Office applications, plus other services that are enabled over the Internet, including extra cloud storage with OneDrive and Skype minutes for home use. With Office 365 you get the full, installed Office experience on PCs, Macs, tablets (including Windows, iPad, and Android) and smartphones. Office 365 plans are available as a monthly or annual subscription. With Office 365, upgrades are always included with your subscription.

Office 2016 suites, including Office Home & Student and Home & Business, include applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote; they are available as a one-time purchase for use on a single PC or Mac. The applications are not automatically updated; to get the latest version, you must purchase Office again when the new version becomes available.

Ratings and Reviews

Rated 1 out of5 by fromI give up on Outlook in Office 365I bought this last March, and have had continuous problems with Outlook 365. There is a known problem with it, for which this https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3161084 is the work-around. Its been the workaround for months and months, and now, when I try to follow the instructions, the commands don't actually work as promised. It went away for a short while when I installed the Anniversary update, but has reappeared this week. The online help is appalingly slow, with lots of platitudes instead of suggestions to cure the problem. I am going to revert to a one-off install of Word and Excel, and forget about Outlook - its unusable anyway.

Rated 2 out of5 by fromFrustratingWord would not work correctly. Constantly crashing. It took a lot of effort to find a fix, which was to do with add-ins. Very frustrating

Rated 2 out of5 by fromDisappointing.I have not yet got used to the concept of leasing a programme instead of purchasing and owning it outright. I feel disempowered by this, particularly as this one did not meet my expectations. I bought it (Word, Outlook and OneNote) mainly out of curiosity for evaluation in case it offered advantages over that which I am currently using but it has not done so, so I shall not be renewing my subscription when it expires. One feature which I find most annoying is how complicated it seems to be to set up a document for right-to-left text; I write regularly in Arabic so you can appreciate my frustration. The word-processing programme I use most (I may not name it, what are you afraid of?) is much easier to use.Since Office 365 offers no significant advantages over what I am using now, goodbye.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromUnable to use new version of Word.I find that at my age 79 and used to the old Word, that this is complex, I find it difficult to get Spelling Corrections, also copy & Paste from one download to what I am working. With the old system I was able to do all this without any difficulty, as my P.c. crashed I had lost all my work and now trying to re do I am unable to do with this new version.Could I have my old version back, I would be prepare to pay for it.
