Ratings and reviews

Rated 3 out of5 by fromCould be excellentThe product is great and it works well but there just aren't enough apps supported to make it really excellent. Microsoft are making some tremendous products but given how reduced their market share is now they need to be more competitive price wise and really must address the lack of business apps supporting windows 10

Rated 5 out of5 by fromQuality piece of kitI bought this as an extra present for myself after I got a Lumia 950 for Christmas. I have the phone plugged into the dock with an HDMI Monitor and USB keyboard/mouse. It works really well and if you didn't know you wouldn't realize that you were using a phone rather than a PC.

Rated 3 out of5 by fromVery impressive; with huge potential to improveIf you add a very portable Bluetooth keyboard and don't mind using the phone screen as a track pad, this is an amazing addition to your Lumia 950 or 950 xl.It removes the need for a laptop especially if you're a travelling businessman; all you need is a TV with HDMI and you're covered. For browsing the web, working on MS Office programmes and emailing, it's great. But until developers start creating Universal Windows 10 apps, it's very limited. With recent acquisitions by Microsoft, this is almost guaranteed to get a lot more apps, very quickly.I can see Windows Mobile dominating the business industry with it's PC-Like performance and security.Right now it gets three stars, but that will improve very soon

Rated 4 out of5 by fromWell built, useful kit that's a real head turner.I used the display doc recently on a trip to Vienna where I needed to run though some PowerPoint slide decks. I left my Surface Book in the bag and proceeded to run the whole show from my phone. In portrait mode, the presenter view is shown which gives me everything I need to run a smooth show, in landscape I see exactly what is shown on screen. What really turned heads was when I grabbed my wireless Arc keyboard and started making changes. I was asked where my laptop was and had to explain what was going on. The audience were certainly impressed and are looking into 950XL purchases for their execs. Now if only more apps would support the dock, this would be a real winner.Microsoft need to ensure ALL of their apps play nicely with the dock, including Minecraft - that'd get the kids on board for sure...

Rated 4 out of5 by fromWorks but only with limited appsThis is a very neat piece of equipment. It plugged into my main pc monitor using a switching adaptor and a new HDMI cable and worked as soon as I operated Continuum on the 950XL phone. However, it would not work with my lap-top which turned out to have HDMI out only I had to buy anew mini-keyboard and mouse set as my existing usb plug-in is buried in the back of my pc. The first time I operated it, they keyboard stopped popping up on my phone afterwards, but this was resolved with a soft reboot. My main criticism is that only the main Microsoft Apps work on it at present so even Google Chrome and many other apps are not. I am also not convinced that it is a great gain on using the phone as a phone and my laptop and pc for more complex computing operations.

Rated 5 out of5 by frommust have!I use mine with a 950XL. I was considering getting a new computer but for now I'm really enjoying this! I was hooking up my Surface to a large monitor, which was nice, but now I use Continuum with the monitor and it's great. I haven't done much heavy work in Office on it yet--just e-mail and browsing--but I think it's a fantastic product.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromDisplay DockI was sceptical about the usefulness of this product until I got it in my hands. It came supplied with a USB C cable and power unit, the dock has a good weight to it and is of a very solid construction. It was extremely easy to connect to my TV via a HDMI lead and accepted a usb wireless mouse and Keyboard with no problems. I plugged in my 950XL and my TV turned into a Windows 10 PC !.Universal apps are a pleasure to use and make the phone function like a desktop.A worth while accessory for any Microsoft 950XL phone.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromworks but has issues without correct hardware,So I have two classrooms that I teach in, one I inhabit 90% of the time with the other just to fill in a few IT lessons. In my main classroom I teach Photography at high school and sixthform level to an eager bunch of students and as such my school issued PC, a 6 year old Dell, is just not up to speed, so I purchased a Surface Pro 3 for my own and school use which is brilliant, way better than the Apple MacBook Air I had which was only a year old.How does all this relate to the Dock.. well, now the SP3 stays in my bag, safe and secure only coming out for the Demos of Adobe Photoshop CS6 which I do via the wireless connector to the projector. The phone, well it can do anything else I once needed the desktop for, using the 950XL for all this btw.I connect the dock to an HDMI cable that runs to my projector and bam... thats it working like a boss! I have Powerpoints from my phone on the big screen, controlled by a MS Keyboard and touchpad setup that's wireless. So when I move around the room I can use the phone and dock remotely. Its great, I can edit, change, move, sort, zoom in and control the slide show anywhere in the room. ALL POWERED BY THE 950xl... no PC and no SP3 in sight. The dock has power, will connect three USBs one with power, so I have the wireless keyboard connected to one via an adapter, one with my usb stick in and one free. It powers the phone and show and amazing amount of detail on the screen, as good as the SP3 for display use.Working with it normally without the projector I link it up to a monitor, my monitor is old and needed an adaptor to work HDMI to VGA. I loose a bit of resolution but for email, office, internet via EDGE, music on Groove or other apps its very good and the app list keeps getting bigger. Some like NETFLIX and iPlayer would be welcome but for now it does replace my desktop and only gets left for use when Adobe CS6 is needed via the SP3. Not bad... not bad at all. Then there is my other room.. well I simply unplug two cables and take it with me, well that's it I want. As Continuum works via the MS Wireless Adaptor I often just leave it behind. I teach MS Office to a bunch of 13 year olds and the 950xl works for every demo use I need. I can show them all the main aspects of the Office suit from my phone and be anywhere in my classroom and still have connection to the projector. Again this simply means I have less to carry and often go to these lessons with a drink, a phone, the wireless connector and my radio. (radio is used to get students removed when they misbehave but they all seem to like IT)If you use Office a lot and Outlook and have either a HDMI or Display port monitor sitting there then just get this thing, its great and its nice not to lug everything around all the time. Today was the first day back and the SP3 was left in the boot of my car... didn't need it at all which was brilliant. Just me and a phone going into work! AceWork like a boss.
