Installation and FAQ

How do I install Office?

After purchase, you can install Office at www.office.com/myaccount. For more information, see the FAQ.

What's the difference between Office 365 plans and Office 2016 suites?

Office 365 plans include the complete suite of Office applications, plus other services that are enabled over the Internet, including extra cloud storage with OneDrive and Skype minutes for home use. With Office 365 you get the full, installed Office experience on PCs, Macs, tablets (including Windows, iPad, and Android) and smartphones. Office 365 plans are available as a monthly or annual subscription. With Office 365, upgrades are always included with your subscription.

Office 2016 suites, including Office Home & Student and Home & Business, include applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote; they are available as a one-time purchase for use on a single PC or Mac. The applications are not automatically updated; to get the latest version, you must purchase Office again when the new version becomes available.

Ratings and reviews

Rated 1 out of5 by fromNot enough "Professional" FeaturesLove the fact that you can install for five users. Love the fact it is Cloud-based and allows install of Office on the desktop/laptop PCs. HATE the fact that you can't register your own domain against it. HATE the fact you don't get SharePoint to be able to create a "family" website, or Lync, or more of those features to enable "easy" sharing (such as those features available in the Small Business edition. PLEASE Microsoft, make the Home edition the same as the Small Business Edition (at the same price as the current "Home" edition. Would even consider a £110 a year sub for the features of Small Business Edition, if it was available for five users on one sub?

Rated 4 out of5 by fromLooking good!Updated from Office 2007 and W8.1 to 365 Home. Better deal if you have a few bits of kit and family to connect with and easier to sync.Spent a day getting my HP laser printer 2605dn to work with the right drivers. Then found that the older PCL5 driver works brilliantly. Phew. What a relief. Very happy in the end. Pretty cool that a new OS works better with an "old" printer driver. It seemed that some of the latest drivers lost some functionality (e.g. double side printing). Generally feels like a much better product than the W8. But I am still learning and cautious to progressively switching my tablet, desktop, and laptop (in that order).

Rated 5 out of5 by fromGood for multiple devicesThis is a single Office product that gives me access pretty much all of the Office components I'd ever need. The main plus for me is that I can use it on all of my devices (2 laptops and a phone) and I get to keep my documents in the cloud rather than having to obtain via email attachments or transfer via USB. I generally just use Word and Excel, but this also gives me access to Outlook (in my opinion the best email program out there - certainly the most intuitive) and Publisher which I've tried for the first time. Given what you get, I think it's pretty good value for money.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromAlmost there.......I committed to Office 365 after I'd suffered one pc failure too far, so now iMac centric with iPad and iPhone i found its integration with iOS world very good. However OneDrive does not cut the mustard. As an avid Dropbox user I'd hoped that OneDrive might rationalise my cloud existence. Not so. C'mon MS get with the program - when using iPad when out on a job with clients I am topic centric not application centric, so when I want to get to data by client I want to go view this off line in an structured view, and I can't make files resident on my iPad like I can with Dropbox. That's why this is a four star rating.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromHow does it work and where do my emails go?I have had a lot of trouble with this computer. It came with windows seven and is upgraded to 8.1 adding Office 365 recently.I have frequently had the computer checked by professionals of all types from Windows, Suppliers, lenovo partners and yet it still does not work.If I was paid £/hour on the time I have tried to get it to work I would be able to employ a PA.Why this is so I do not know, but it has taken me four and a half hours to scan one document and I have now got to look for it, it has been delivered to my ancient smart phone but not my computer. With out a solution I shall be looking for an Apple product and soon. So, No I am not enjoying Windows 8.1 nor Office 365.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromExcellent value - why wouldn't you?!I bought this for two reasons: 1) My wife and I were both running very low on our OneDrive storage space. With this product we both got an upgrade from 15GB to 1TB, and I can still invite three other family members/friends to share my subscription too. 2) I wanted to have the latest Office apps across multiple devices (Windows/OS X and IOS). There is a disappointing bit, which is that Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac OS X cannot sync with my Outlook.com contacts or calendar - it's just not possible. I opened support tickets with both Microsoft and Apple, but it can't be done. So I have stopped using Outlook, but will continue to use the other office apps.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromVery good valueWe bought this a few months ago to suit a family of 5. Initially you got about 15GB each of storage space which was pretty good, but that has now risen to 1TB. would TOTALLY RECOMMEND
