Function keys, media controls, and touchpad

Ratings and reviews

Rated 5 out of5 by fromFantastic screen and has replaced my laptop,Weight and form factor are amazing for the power of the device. No mistake this is a proper PC not a blown up smartphone. My UK keyboard has a £ key and I'm not sure about the previous comments re function keys, mine work as per normal.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromA handy tool for use with the Surface Pro 3Only had a few days, but so far, I am just beginning to get used to it. I have never used such a compact keyboard before, and initial use provided *lots* of spurious characters while typing. Over the short time though, I am finding I like it more and more. After all, the other options would either not be fully integrated with the SP3, or less portable. All in all, I have to give 5 stars as it does exactly as it was designed to do.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromThe best one yet!I have been using touch and type covers on the previous Surface Tablets, but so far this new backlit SP3 cover is the best. Very responsive, looks elegant, has a nice "click" to it and a convenient layout. I recommend it!

Rated 2 out of5 by fromOk shame about F1 to F12 requiring Fn key. This keyboard is quite good for typing on, it even has a £ symbol (Shift+3) on the UK version. My particular bug bare is that the F1 to F12 keys have been give "special" functions, F1 - brightness down, F2 - brightness up, F3 - mute, F4 - play/pause, F5 - search charm, F6 - share charm, F7 - devices charm, F8 - settings charm, F9 - Home, F10 - End, F11 - Page up, F12 - Page down. To access the F keys you have to press them in combination with another Fn key (Ctrl+F5 for example becomes Ctrl+Fn+F5). The main issue for me is that as a software developer I use both the F1-12 keys and the Home, End keys ALL THE TIME and it is a bug bare to have to keep pressing Fn ALL THE TIME. There is a Fn lock (Fn+Caps) which switches until you turn it off, but this does not help as then you lose the Home, End, PgUp and PgDn keys.
