Overview

Wireless without worry

Wireless without worry

This slim and stylish mouse and keyboard are built for comfort. The keyboard actually helps protect your information with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), which encrypts your keystrokes so you can go wireless while staying secure. Each keyboard is permanently paired with its receiver at the factory, so nothing is ever shared over the air. Combine that with an average battery life of two years, and you've got a wireless desktop that's perfect for using with your Bluetooth-enabled tablet, laptop, PC, or phone.

Rated 2 out of5 by fromFine . . butIt's a nice simple, comfortable design, a good weight, the mouse is a little plasticy but again fine - however the 'feature' that ruins it for me is that *every* morning when i come back to it (the keyboard) with my laptop - it is 'off' dead, unresponsive - I have to remove and replace the batteries to gain connectivity.Backlighting would have been nice, and others have mentioned the lack of caps num and scroll lock LEDs (personally i don't miss them).

Rated 4 out of5 by fromNot Bluetooth, but nice beyond this.Though it states* it has Bluetooth in the description of the product, it does in fact not have Bluetooth, or at least I myself cannot find Bluetooth, and the detailed product information you can download as a PDF does not state any details on Bluetooth (which I only checked after receiving the product and looking into it further).*'Be more productive with this Bluetooth-enabled keyboard and mouse set.'*'...you've got a wireless desktop that's perfect for using with your Bluetooth-enabled tablet, laptop, PC, or phone'So this keyboard cannot actually connect to your phone, or any device without a full sized USB port, which is a bit disappointing as i was hoping to use this on my windows tablet with Bluetooth, but now cannot.(If the page has been changed to reflect the lack of Bluetooth, then below is still relevant.)Besides this, the keyboard is very nice to the touch, keys soft, and not overly quiet, so you know when you have hit a key, but it is about the quietest I've used. There is no noticeable lag between pressing a key, and it appearing on screen. The customisable keys, such as the play/pause button/calculator button, are a nice feature, changeable through a downloaded program available on the Microsoft website. This program is easy to use, though you do have to go hunting for any program you want to change a key to open (e.g. calculator button to open chrome). There are very grippy feet on the base of the keyboard, as well as the feet of the legs when flipped down, so you can be assured it wont drift off as you use it.There is no visible writing (besides the keys themselves) on the keyboard or the underside, besides a small engraved 'Microsoft' in the top right, which also has a small green led light, which I have only noticed being on when i first put the two AA's (provided) in.The only complaint i can see people having is the thin enter key, and lack of on-board led's to let you know when any of the capital/number/scroll locks are enabled/disabled.There is no actual on/off switch for the keyboard (where as there is for the mouse), so I assume if left for enough time it will take a moment to wake up, or is always on and just super efficient on battery, though I am not sure on this. The mouse is a bit uncomfortable to use at first, but got used to this quickly. The plastic body and keys has a nice feel, but heavy once the batteries are put in.The USB dongle, in which the keyboard and mouse connect to, fits within the battery compartment when not in use, being held between the batteries as if in a USB port. The buttons are as customisable as the keyboard ones, changeable within the same software, with controls over windows 10, such as using the middle click button to open the task view. There is again no noticeable lag between moving the mouse/clicking to what happens on screen. The mouse moves easily on a desk without a muse pad, is accurate even on a reflective surface, and can be used without a problem on clothes or bedding if you use it to watch a film. The mouse also features no information stickers, same as the keyboard, only featuring an engraved 'Microsoft' on the glossy part between the left and right keys.Over all this desktop is elegant, nice to the touch, responsive, the lack of cables is freeing, and both are particularly useful with Windows 10, but if you are looking for a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse like the page states, this will not be for you, unless I just haven't found how to use the Bluetooth.
