Ratings and reviews

Rated 1 out of5 by fromdoes not start on battery (100% charged)took a change even though there were many negative reviews.started out fine, configured quickly, pleased with build and screen quality.screen began to flicker totally off after an hour. left plugged in overnight, tried to start on battery the next morning, power button would not respond after multiple (~20 attempts). plugged in, power button responded immediately, but not consistently. verified battery was at 100%. unplugged, continued to run, restarted through the start menu with no problem. shutdown, could not restart until the power cord was plugged in.amazingy poor quality control -- the negative reviews are evidently correct

Rated 5 out of5 by fromLove the Keyboard!I just received this laptop in the mail. It came in a timely fashion, wasn't overburdened by ridiculous packaging, but was securely wrapped. Take this review with a grain of salt since I haven't had a chance to use it extensively, but I have found that the keyboard is very easy to type on, I love the backlit feature, and it was very easy to set up. I have installed all of my familiar apps on it and the screen size and weight is comfortable for my graciously aging body. I am a non-traditional student going back to school for the first time in 23 years and I think this laptop is exactly what I needed. Great price too!

Rated 4 out of5 by fromGreat for workI wanted something basic but capable for logging in to work with. I do web development and use remote desktop to connect to my computer at work. This system handles that just fine. It has a medium sized screen, including touch which is nice but not necessary for work. The system is light and sports a clean design, and comes with little in terms of preloaded bloat ware. I am running the most up to date version of Windows 10 on it. I am very satisfied, especially for the price.I picked it up at a local Microsoft Store. They are helpful without being pushy, and have been accommodating when I have had to return things in the past.

Rated 2 out of5 by fromChristmas Day Disappointment.Purchased this computer for my mom for Christmas from a retail store at the mall. Unwrapping the computer was the only joy she got. Right out of the box, maybe 5 minutes and there is an issue with the touchscreen "ghosting" (registering clicks and drags without anyone touching it). Looked at a bunch of forums and tried several fixes to no avail. I've had several Dell laptops and desktops (P-II 600mhz, P-III 800mhz, Inspiron 8200 laptop, 2xInspiron 1705 laptops) and this is the first lemon of the bunch. Going to go back to the store tomorrow to try and return for another one. May update or write another review depending on outcome.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromHugely Disappointed with the Laptop. This was my first purchase from MS Store. I was looking forward to working on the Laptop, only to be disappointed with the Quality Control for MS Store. For all the tall claims about all the Quality checks for Signature Edition machines,I was surprised to find that the 15% of the display area was not responsive to touch. I have been a Dell customer for years and I haven't received any defective device from Dell.Had to return the laptop because of the defective touchscreen.Overall ignoring the touchscreen, I was impressed by the quality of the laptop. But the battery on the laptop leaves a lot to be desired.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromworkhorseHave it for 3.5 weeks. Too early to talk about reliability. Cons and pros are below.Cons:All plastic, no metal at all. Keyboard panel flexes slightly when typing, adding to overall cheap feel. Heavy. Single USB3 port.Pros:Full HD. Very easy access to hard drive bay, so swapping HDD for SSD is a breeze. Backlit keyboard. Core i5 and 8GB make it decent performer. I hope you don't expect dedicated graphics at this price point.Overall: if you need an inexpensive laptop for work and ready to trade design and low-weight for decent specs and low price, this may be your choice.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromPerfect laptop for perfect priceThough the laptop looks a little bigger for a 15.6", it does a great job with power packed performance. I did not see any issues with the touch screen. 8GB ram is great with a home and home-work laptop. Intel i5 is really good. If you are ok laptop being a little bigger and little heavier than the recent laptops out in the market, this is a great choice. Microsoft has done a nice job with the signature edition. Laptop has no unnecessary software and is really clean. I did not see any issues with WiFi connects/disconnects as mentioned in earlier reviews.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromThis computer is uselessreturning this On the first day of purchase, this laptop had 2 blue screen crashes of death for no apparent reason. On the second day I found out that everytime the laptop goes into a sleeping mode I can't log back in because it freezes and needs to be restarted. On the third day, every 1-2 hours I started getting messages on the laptop screen like "display driver stopped responding and recovered" and it froze the laptop for 20-30 seconds. Then randomly it freezes and becomes totally unresponsive and requires cold reboot. Something new and unexpected every day. I'm already tired and annoyed of all this.. Microsoft support team wasn't very helpful as well. I'm returning the laptop next week and want my money back.
