Overview

Picture perfect

With its stunning 4K UHD display, the Dell XPS 15 eclipses the view of all other 15-inch laptops. It features the world's first InfinityEdge display, a virtually borderless 15.6-inch screen placed into the body of an 14-inch laptop. Plus, the XPS 15 is only 11-17mm thin and weighs 4.5 pounds, making it the lightest performance-class 15-inch laptop on the market today. And with Windows 10, you get easy ways to snap apps in place, create new desktops, and work and play across all your devices.

Crystal-clear display

The XPS 15 delivers an incredible 8 million pixels on its 4K Ultra HD display—that's 4 million more pixels than Full HD. What you get is a view that's always precise, clear, and eye-poppingly lifelike. Movies jump off the screen. Presentations shine. And photos and videos can be edited with pinpoint precision.

Solid as a rock

Premium craftsmanship and design make this laptop a real head-turner. Its all-aluminum body is strong, durable, and stylish, while its carbon-fiber base is tough and thin like aluminum but cooler to the touch. And with a Corning Gorilla Glass NBT display, you get enhanced scratch resistance, reduced scratch visibility, and better retained strength once a scratch occurs.

Ratings and reviews

Rated 1 out of5 by fromGreat Specs, but buggyFirst I wanted to say I ONLY buy at the Microsoft Store - no bloatware, excellent customer service. Now for the computer (i7 6th gen, 16gb ram, 512gb ssd), not so great experience. I really wanted to like this computer but the issues were too many on different samples:1. First computer had issues with screen changing colors depending on the app I had loaded on the screen. Also a few times the computer would not come back from sleeping/hibernate mode unless I did a hard reboot (holding the power button down)2. The second unit had issues with crackling sound and the backlit keyboard had a burnt light under the eight (8) key.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromSerious quality issues!I was really excited to buy this laptop and that's why I paid for the fastest shipping. On first start it gave a message "Hardrive is not installed" but on the next starts it become OK. I updated the BIOS and drivers, it went down a few time with BLUE SCREEN but I thought that's usual with WINDOWS isn't it!! I started liking this laptop, the thin bezel screen is gorgeous and its fast! But after few days I don't know what happened, one of the speaker started burping, I restarted the machine and that speaker stopped working. After a while the other speaker behaved in the same way and it also went down.A total let down and waste of time and money!! Returned it..

Rated 5 out of5 by fromExcellent quality and performance, minor flawsI received my Dell XPS 15 9550 i7 for Christmas. Initially I would have rated the unit 4 stars, it was great but had a few hiccups. The Intel graphics repeatedly crashed and recovered almost immediately. A driver update from Intel fixed the issue. As with any new device I expect a couple of software updates to get all engines firing perfect. After waiting to review for a few weeks I definitely upgraded my appreciation for the device. I would actually give it 4.5 stars ...the camera position may be annoying for those that use it a lot. The display is amazing, and multitasking is seamless. Will run pretty hefty games but there are obviously better choices if your strictly gaming.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromLike laptop but issues with software scalingBeing that this is a 4K screen, I've had issues with my Photoshop CS5 and Corel Painter scaling properly where everything is very tiny and hard to read. I've read where some people experience this problem on Microsoft products. After much research I found a workaround for Photoshop CS5. If you are on the Adobe cloud, this isn't a problem. Overall nice laptop but I sometimes get bothered by the glare of the screen, however, I do like the fact that you don't have the viewing angle issues of other screens. I'm also trying to adjust to the different size keyboard. I've been typing for 40+ years and I find myself placing my hand one key over from what I am used to.

Rated 1 out of5 by froma betrayal of timeI am reviewing the 1TB+32GB RAM SKU:• Decent screen• Low profile• Weak speakers• Low keyboard responsiveness• Spotty touchpad when trying to traverse screen with mouse pointer• Horrible Bluetooth performance for using Bluetooth mice (I tried 3 different mice from 3 different OEMs) with same spotty behavior as touchpad (I had to connect a USB mouse to get usable on-screen mouse traversing)• Terrible WiFi connection strength within less than 50 feet of WAP• Throttles up! Playing games on this leads to very high temperatures in less than 15 minutes, causing the CPU and GPU to throttle, causing games to be virtually unplayable. Not good for editing in Corel.

Rated 3 out of5 by fromGreat computer, other than constant crashesI have the I7/16GB/512SSD version. The general performance & usability of this system is great. However I'm getting daily bluescreen system failures - sometimes repeat multiple failures minutes apart. There seems to be a correlation between system failures and times when I'm streaming video or downloading files so it may be a wifi/driver issue - but IMHO that isn't acceptable on a standard configuration system like this.So I'm not recommending it yet - but I'm keeping the laptop and updating drivers, because I do believe it will be a great system once it stops blowing up.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromPoor quaility controlI really wanted to like this laptop, but after returning 3 I've decided to find something else. The first computer I ordered failed to boot at all - the power light would illuminate, the fans would kick on, then the unit would shut off. The second unit came with a number of defects - the top and bottom halves of the machine were misaligned (meaning the edge on the left created an overhang), the trackpad was misaligned, and the left side of the screen had a pinkish hue while the left was yellow. The third unit had a flickering screen as well as a spacebar that would often not register. Very disappointing with the quality control on what should have otherwise be a nice slim/powerful laptop.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromExcellent laptop but...Absolutely superb laptop. Gorgeous screen even if you get the 'low-end' FHD, non-touch model. Handles any workload I can throw at it, even virtual machines and modern games. 1080P games play at 60 FPS with high detail, and lots of games run acceptably at 4K.But there are a few caveats:1. Drivers / bios / firmware still have issues, though they are being updated regularly. This is especially true for the USB-C Thunderbolt port.2. Battery life is good, but way over-stated. On 4K / UDH screen, expect 5-6 hours of battery. On a FHD screen 6-7 hours of real-world use.
