Ratings and reviews

Rated 5 out of5 by fromBest Windows Phone EverI'm an old man and I have had lots of different phones. I have had this phone for a few days now. I bought it unlocked and have it on T-Mobile's network. The phone is flawless. All the apps work great out of the box. Battery life is very good considering it is a huge phone with a very bright display. Calls are crystal clear. The text app has some cool new features such as putting the phone on its side shows you your contacts in a list. Cortana is amazing! You have to try "Hey Cortana"! The iris recognition works so much better than expected. I have had ZERO crashes or issues. I was so skeptical about this phone. My doubts have been overcome.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromWhy isn't WP More Popular than it is????My wife and I have had our Lumia 950s (XL for me, base 950 for her) for several months now and we are very happy with them. I was a Lumia 925 user, and she was an iPhone 5 user.Pros: Great Windows 10 Mobile OS, Fast/responsive UI and navigation, beautiful display, long battery life, fast charging, upgradable memory, replaceable battery (if needed - haven't got there yet), etc.As great as this phone/OS is, I just can't figure out why it isn't more popular than it is. People really need to give it another try, as IMO, I think it is better than iOS and Android, especially if you use the whole Windows 10 EcoSystem (Phone, Tablet, Desktop).

Rated 5 out of5 by fromA new generation of hardwareUpgraded from the Lumia 920 (2 cores @ 1GHz) to the Lumia 950 XL (8 cores @ 2GHz) and the difference is significant. The 920 runs Windows 10 Mobile really well, actually, but you can just tell the 950 XL / Snapdragon 810 is a new level of performance. I use Continuum with my Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter; it connects in seconds and then I stream YouTube directly to my amplifier/TV from my phone... such a nice setup. And Windows + Lumia are only going to keep getting updated and getting better.I will observe: it's not really a one-handed device, but no phablet really is one-handed. Other than that, which I expected, it's completely amazing.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromAlmost there!Received this phone about 2 weeks ago and since the hardware is great I'm giving this phone 5 stars, but if this were a review of windows 10 mobile I'd have to downgrade for now. Understand when you buy this phone that Microsoft is constantly updating the OS and soon it will be where it needs to be, but as of now it has a fair bit of improvement to be had. Initial issues included deplorable battery life and inability to download files directly to SD card (OS and firmware updates took care of that) but little bugs still exist. I have full confidence that Microsoft will update the OS to fully utilize this incredible hardware, just a matter of time.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromGood hardware, OS requires a lot of workIn general the hardware is good. The back cover makes it look a bit cheap, though. You can easily replace it with a third party cover and it will add some premium look and feel. The OS unfortunately is still far from ready in my opinion. All the frustration comes from software side. The phone restarts randomly, the screen stops responding to touch frequently for a while, especially when onscreen keyboard or the navigation keys are displayed. The battery life could be improved. The camera is good, although it's not as superior as L920 was in its time.Call quality is perfect, noise cancellation is stunning. If you're a Windows Phone fan then it's a no brainer.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromEverything in one deviceI've had the 950xl for about a month now and its great. I also have a MS band 2, a MS fold-able keyboard and a screen beam mini. With these accessories, I have put away the macbook pro and ipad. If I need a bigger screen I easily connect with the screen beam to my tv and the xl becomes a touch pad. If I need to type out a doc or long email its easy with the little folding keyboard. Besides the health app, the band lets be screen email and texts while I'm in a meeting. Even lets me pay for coffee. I have gone from Laptop + Tablet + phone to a phone and a few accessories. No longer chained to a desk

Rated 4 out of5 by fromGood phone with the potential to be great.Bought the 950XL to replace IPhone 6s Plus 64gbBuild quality: 4/5. Lightweight but still feels sturdy.Speed: 5/5. Typical WP speed. Fast, fluid, great.Screen: 5/5. Absolutely beautifulCamera: 4/5. Best pictures and videos I've ever seen on a phone. Blows 6s Plus away, for sure in low light. Taking a picture did FREEZE the phone twice so far.Battery: 3/5. Not great so far, may be the first few days of use.Network\Cell Data: 5/5. One of my main gripes about the IPhone was the poor transfer speeds over WiFi. 950XL is excellent so far.Apps: 1/5. Everyone knows this.Overall: 8/10Micros SD card is perfect!

Rated 5 out of5 by fromWelcome to BeyondI bought this phone because I'm an avid fan of Windows Phone and the platform in general. my hopes are that Microsoft continues to nurtures this infant (as far as it comes to market share currently) until the day we can say that they have matured like what did they puled of with Xbox, Surface, etc. Until now I have had not needed the various apps that many complain about us not having. The only ones I really care about now are my main banking apps, Chase, PNC and Huntington. Its not a deal breaker as I can use the mobile site. But I look forward to the day Universal Apps take off in a huge way and we no longer have to talk about
