Ratings and reviews

Rated 4 out of5 by fromA New Must in the Road KitPlayed with one of these from my phone at the store the other day, and was blown away. Stream audio & hd video from the movie collection, run PowerPoint on the display with presenter's notes & deck controls on the phone, launch the camera app and stream live video... That's just scratching the surface. It's plug & play, almost too easy to set up. One down side, after watching a movie from my collection, the adapter got fairly hot, so I worry about prolonged use for full hd movie streaming. Running apps on my phone while streaming hd video to the adapter caused some choppiness of the video, but I'm sure my laptop won't have that issue.

Rated 3 out of5 by fromGreat - but inconsistentI have been using the display adapter with my Surface Pro 4 for about two weeks. I am a university professor and I use the adapter to connect my Surface Pro to the projector system in my classroom. I have found that the adapter is inconsistent during the link process - sometimes connecting immediately and other times it takes several attempts to make the connection. The range of the adapter is also inconsistent sometimes dropping the link if I move more than a few feet away from the podium. I had thought that I would be able to move throughout the classroom, but this has not proved possible.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromWorks for an hour or so and then disconnectsBought this together with a Win 10 Vaio Flip laptop several months ago to use while traveling, both for business presentations and to stream to hotel TVs. Occasional short term use worked fine. Now I have added a monitor to use when working at home. The first connection is fine, but after one or two hours of use, it disconnects for unknown reasons. I haven't found a way to re-connect (adapter no longer found) other than turning off both, laptop and display adapter. The same problem exists when the laptop goes to sleep: after wake-up the laptop does no find the adapter anymore. Was hoping to minimize the cables on my desk, but this adapter is failing too often.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromWorks quite wellConnects reliably. A little too much delay for games, but fine for movies etc. There were two issues. My TV lacks USB, so I used a phone charger rated at 2 amps which worked perfectly. But I needed that charger for my phone, so I substituted a 500 mA charger, and surprise...the connection failed every time. Since 500 mA is the standard maximum current for USB 1 and 2, many TVs with USB 1 or 2 connectors might not be able to power this adapter. The second issue is over-scan. The outer 5 percent or so of the picture shows up on the computer screen, but is outside the viewing area on the TV.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromIt does not workAfter a lot of enquiries and investigations I found that the device is not compatible with my VAIO computer. It took me a long time to find this out and I did thru VAIO support and not thru Microsoft which I find very surprising. It took me a long long time to be able to contact a person to address my problem. Finally I did and I was promised a full refund of which I should have been notified this morning but it did not happen. I understand that my case have been documented and is identified with the number 1366432186. Please appreciate if somebody help either to mahe the device work if it is possible or to get my refund immediatelly.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromWorks great. It needs good power source.I bought this with my Surface 3. At first I had difficulty getting connected. Nothing would work. I would attempt to connect and it would start but reboot back to the "Ready to Connect" screen. I have an older TV with HDMI but no USB so I used a cheap USB charger. After much troubleshooting, I tried the Surface 3's power adapter. After I used that power adapter, the unit worked perfectly. I was able to easily connect my Surface 3 and Samsung phone. The Surface 3 was still responding at a distance of 20+ feet. If you're having trouble connecting, try a better wall plug.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromSimply Amazing - I Love ItI love my Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter so much I bought a second on to leave permanently in my TV to replace my Chromecast. Wireless Display Adapter works impeccably in every single application with which I tried it and always amazes my audiences as I walk around the room with my Surface Pro 3, wirelessly projecting what ever I have on my screen - including Video Clips, Powerpoint and even MS OneNote which I use as a digital flipchart / white board I can email them after the presentation! The thing even works flwlessly with my windows phone and my android tablet.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromDoesn't last for longThis worked awesome for 2 weeks. No lag on HD movies (surface pro original), no pixely distress, now it seems that the signal is being received poorly. It stops, disconnects, sound goes in and out. Tried with a different power source, different computer (win 10), different placement of receiver dongle, still not working like it used to. I am going to return to the store. Not a good value for money spent.
