Ratings and reviews

Rated 5 out of5 by fromMonths of searching finally overHave had for 1 week at the time of this review. My first Razer laptop and well worth the 2 month wait. Looked at other gaming laptops, especially given the delays that Razer was experiencing. Kept coming back to this one having everything I wanted for both work and home use. Gaming standpoint I've played Witcher 3 and Overwatch so far and very satisfied with the performance.Microsoft service was great, received the machine within 2 days of ordering, and glad to have the 2 year support as well.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromMean Green Machine (Shut up and take my Money!)I can't recommend this laptop enough. Think MacBook for gamers. Lightweight for school or just chilling, speedy SSD and Ram for quick wake up and multi tasking all that and the new gtx 1060 handles everything I throw at it. Can't beat the build quality, it's the little things like being able to lift the hinge with one finger, yet the screen isn't flimsy. Screen is only 14 inch so 1080p gaming is perfect QHD isn't needed at this size so save some cash and DO NOT go for a touch screen on a gaming laptop, thermals are good with the Full HD non touch, I like the screen size since it's not blindingly large when I'm finishing typing a paper in bed for school, or surfing the web etc. Again thin and light package all around this is an amazing piece of tech and the GTX 1060 refresh is great. Rated 5 out of5 by fromSuperb LaptopOk I don't know where to start with but this laptop is just amazing. Its basically a dream come true for any gamer on the go. A desktop grade gtx 1060 gpu on a compact package that has the looks ,and the build quality of a macbook. This laptop can run almost any game on ultra at 60 fps or higher. As of right now I am getting 70 fps on bf1 at ultra settings. The RGB keyboard is truely unique to razer notebooks ,which really makes your machine stand out from the rest. The screen is good but nothing out of the ordinary as its a hd display ,but its all you really need for gaming.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromPoor Performancethe first time i got this laptop it was good, till windows started updating automatically. The updates reduced the battery life to 2 hours at max, and the laptop is very slow. I I then returned it, and exchanged it for the same razer blade, but every time the laptop updated it started becoming extremely slow and the disk stayed at 100%, killing the battery life. So, I returned it again, but this time I set the laptop up in the microsoft store so they could see what i was dealing with. The laptop started working smoothely, but when i got home, it got super slow again. I talked to microsoft technicians but they have no idea of what is going on with this laptop.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromFantastic laptopPurchased the 512 gb model. This laptop is the most versatile lightweight laptop I've ever used. I use it for office type work, remote desktop, large PDF viewing, and internet. The full HD screen is among the best I've seen on a laptop. Very crisp and white uniformity is very solid. The Blade is so versatile, I can use it for work and general use, and fire up a game when I want to game.Gaming performance also is great w/ the 1060 GPU. It will run most games between high and ultra settings at 1080p, which is amazing for this form factor.Fan noise- yes the fans get loud under load but you can't have power AND silence in a laptop this thin and light. The fans are not high pitched to me and not annoying. The good thing is that cooling is well done here and the fans ramp back down very quickly after gaming.Battery life- you can get improvement by disabling hibernation in the Windows power options. I also disabled wake alerts. The Blade's build quality is superb, so solid. Love the matte black look. There have been comments from users out there that performance is reduced, throttling, etc., compared to other laptops with the GTX 1060. Razer recently issued a firmware update that addressed CPU throttling due to PROCHOT being triggered. Once this update is applied you shouldn't experience any CPU related stuttering in games / throttling under load. Check out the very useful Razer Insider forum for some great info and tweaks you can make. The only CON that I have with the Blade doesn't concern the laptop itself, but with a possible SSD lottery with the 512 gb model. When the Blade first released it was shipping with the older 512 gb Samsung PM951 SSD. I also confirmed this when looking at a store model a few weeks ago. My Blade came with the new 512 gb Samsung PM961, which is the OEM version of the new 960 Evo. There is a HUGE difference in read/write speed between the PM951 and PM961. So please check your SSD when you receive the laptop and don't settle for the PM951 when other models are shipping with the newer PM961.

Rated 2 out of5 by fromFast but loudThis laptop is fast, there is no disputing that. I got around 1.5 hours of battery life, which for a Windows power house laptop is not that bad in my opinion. The problem I had was that the mouse would pause every few minutes. The fans were loud but you need to keep the 1060GTX graphics card cool. The noise problem I had was in the front of the laptop near the trackpad I had some weird electronic noise, this didn't affect performance, but it drove me mad. I have an AlienWare R2 13", build quality was better, the Keyboard was better, and I didn't have any strange noises coming from it. I'm going to be returning this laptop andI'm going to be getting an Alienware R3 13". It's around the same price, the screen is a little smaller, and it's a little heavier but build quality is better in my honest opinion.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromGreatBought this about two weeks ago and I'm loving it. It's portable and does everything I need. I wanted to get the QHD display at first but I'm glad I went with this one.

Rated 3 out of5 by fromGreat build, but under performing and bad QCExcellent laptop build, but It is constantly performing ~10% worse than my friend's Asus with identical specs. Heat handling: A+ Performance:C- Seriously disappointing in consideration of the specs and cost. I only recommend if you are willing to lose a chunk of power for portability.
