Ratings and reviews

Rated 5 out of5 by fromThis is the best "laptop/tablet" I have ever ownedI am enrolled in graduate school online and I needed something that would meet all my needs. This tablet did for me. I travel for business about three times a year and it is compact enough to carry through the airport and at the same time powerful enough to handle the online class environment, work etc... I was concerned about the size but even that doesn't bother me one bit. I love how I can write with the stylus and organize it as neat as if I was writing on a piece of paper. There is nothing I don't like about this device and would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an all in one computer. Microsoft got it right with this one!

Rated 5 out of5 by fromOverall Excellent, couple niggling faultsOverall, I am loving the SP3. Coming from the ATIV500 the performance is fantastic, with battery life comparable to that much lower spec'd machine.Areas for Improvement:* Ability to disable the capacitive windows button (and switch to a physical home button on the next generation that can be used as both the windows button and a power switch)* Opening the type cover should turn on the device (use a magnetic switch like the ATIV500)* 16GB RAM option (for those of us who need to use VM's for work)* second USB 3 port* Silent option that throttles the CPU instead of firing up the fan* color coordinate option for pen button to type cover color

Rated 5 out of5 by fromBest Device Microsoft has made!!!!I love this thing! I'm a busy college student and this fits perfectly into my busy life! portable, powerful and efficient. I love the versatility between tablet and laptop. Can't wait for windows 10 and how Microsoft will improve on 8.1 which I've become use to so quickly.I'd recommend this device. I't does everything i need it to and more. Onenote integration with the surface pen is on point. It's price but save your money and invest in a surface pro 3, I did and its worth it.ps. The type cover really is necessary to really have full functionality between tablet and laptop. It's extra and not included, which I believe it should.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromHighly Functional and True LapBletI bought SP3 few weeks ago trading in my SP1. I am already a SP user but sp3 took it up a notch. The weight is well balanced, the new pen and its design with one note is a joy to use. The 12" size at 3:2 aspect ratio is sweet spot. One definitely needs the type cover for a full LapBlet experience and I tell you it an awesome one. I run DXO, JMP, Minitab, adobe writer, and other productivity software on the i3 version with no issues, I also do light movie editing with ease. This is a well beautifully crafted LapBlet, it can only get even better with next version. I hope to see it lighter (1.3lb), more ports, does not need to be thinner.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromTwo things I dislike about the Surface Pro 3:I love my Surface Pro 3! But I am unhappy with a couple of things:1. THE KICKSTAND. When I'm in a video call, I have to put a book or something under my kickstand to get the right angle. Without the proper angle, The person on the other end of the video call can't see me!2. THE CHARGER. I really wish the charger was better. I've broken 2 in the past 4 months! And I'm not the only one with Surface Pro 3 charger issues. The charger is just too flimsy. I mainly use my Surface in laptop-mode, and the charger gets bent and warped when I charge it in this position. I can't stand the charger. Horrid design considering this is supposed to be "the tablet that can replace your laptop".

Rated 5 out of5 by fromLove it right out of the box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We were using laptops to do Remote Desktop Sessions (RDS) into our main servers and client database from customers' homes all over our city. We opened this new machine on June 20th,, joined it to our domain, and also set up remote sessions all in about 1.5 hours. First client next day it worked perfectly in the field and to my surprise , when I plugged in my HP 470 Mobile printer, it just worked - no installation necessary. The fast boot-up is appreciated and Windows 8 took no time to learn and now I love the home screen tiles with important information always being updated. Have not touched my Ipad in a week. What can I say

Rated 5 out of5 by fromAmazing device, a must have over a laptop.I just bought the Surface Pro 3 i3 for light office work and streaming video. I took it back to get the i5 256 GB. This is such an amazing device and extremely light weight. The fact that you can have this as a tablet to a laptop in a blink of an eye makes it fun to use. I really love how you can pull up two screens in one and watch sports on one side and read e mails on the other at the same time. My friend just bought a MacBook Air and I think the Surface Pro 3 should not even be compared to the Mac. I would definitely recommend this for light web browsing to heavy duty apps. I'm very happy with the i5 and wont go back to a regular laptop!

Rated 2 out of5 by fromNeat Machine, but Issues! Issues! Issues!Perfect size. Functionality is there. Portability is awesome. It's everything I wanted it to be; however, I have had nothing but issues with its operation. Every time I close the lid, the computer shuts down instead of going to sleep. Last night, the computer woke me up because it was snapping pictures (51 in all) and the flash was going off. This morning, I tried to login to my computer and it timed out. It's coming to the point where I cannot trust that my computer will operate correctly when I need it to perform for a presentation at school or at my internship. The firmware and software fixes that Microsoft has provided to date have not corrected the issues either.
