Ratings and reviews

Rated 5 out of5 by fromThin and Light with the Best in Class screenI have had this laptop since it came out. It has many features that most competitors do not have that are really great. The screen is 4k and absolutely gorgeous. There is a usb-c 3.1 port which is great for data transfer. Full size HDMI so hooking it up to your TV is a sinch. There is a windows hello camera that logs you in from just looking at you. The 360 degree hinge makes binge watching netflix or youtube great. Plenty of power (not core M), ram, pcie storage at a good price. The body is very sturdy as well.If I did have to have 1 complaint, it would be the fan noise. It is not fanless and you can hear the fan after running some tasks. I didn't knock a star because this has a powerful processor and the fan is a must... but its just something to consider.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromPerfect blend of portability and performanceI bought this computer for my wife for both home and work- outstanding design, clean Microsoft 10 OS and beautiful screen.

Rated 3 out of5 by fromBuggy trak pad makes me down rate my prior reviewI was pleased with this toshiba P25W when I first bought it, but the touchpad has become very buggy. The arrow stalls or locks often and touch & drag to resize or move rarely works. You have to tap the f4 key to reset the touch pad when it stalls or locks. I've had 3 or 4 prior Windows laptops at various price points and none had such a lousy trak pad. I will send it to Toshiba before the warranty expires.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromThis is a terrible notebook! After using this NB for 5 months, I am very disappointed with this NB. It has too many problems. So difficult to image that it is made by a company with good image in the past.1. The touch pad has serious problems: the cursor is locked up easily. Then I should wait for few seconds to get it back. It is hardly successful to drag an object. I am forced to use a Bluetooth mouse all the time.2. The system hangs-up for more than 15 times already. The only way to get it back work is to reboot the system.Randy

Rated 4 out of5 by fromRecent updates have inmproved TrakpadI've had the 256 Mb version for 6 months. I liked everything but, the Trakpad which would stall or seize. A recent update series seems to have improved it, so it now works as well as most pads on other laptops I've had in the past. Battery life is still shourt due to the power hungry gorgeous screen.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromTracPad IssuesOne star because this seems to be a common issue and no recall issued. had the computer for 45 days and now sending it in to be "fixed" we'll see if it holds. Tracpad stops working and not a software issue its hardware.

Rated 3 out of5 by fromGreat specs; Middling battery; touchpad ungroundedSo there it was. I didn't buy it here, but refurbished, open-box, from MicroCenter.Consider:It was bought new.It was returned to Toshiba. It was refurbished (by a third party who still had a logo on the plain box it was sold in)It was purchased at discount by a Microcenter customerIt was RETURNED AGAIN to Microcenter. It was not fixed.I fixed it with 1 wire, and some solder. The touchpad is ungrounded; it floats and has a very slight connection via poorly conductive adhesive, on some silver-foil tape to the case.If anyone has a broken one and wants it fixed, opening the case is the hardest part if you know how to solder. There are a few different places to solder, some better than others. Google around for a site called, i kid you not, 'stonertronics' and it has the most reliable and rather easy full guide to soldering the ground wire to a copper pad on the secondary I/O PCB.If you want it fixed, i can do this, find me, mystica555 anywhere you google should be me.I personally recommend it to a friend, only if they fix it or allow me to do the same; bought as-is, its broken, due to the touchpad thinking its being tapped all the time. Its worse when plugged in to power, as this creates yet a different ground level that the pad must now be pulled down/up to, and theres not enough electrons flowing as it is.

Rated 2 out of5 by fromLots of compromisesIt gives you a little bit of everything and is great for lugging around. You get the power & display you'd want from a bigger computer, along with decent pen support for quick doodling (make sure you get a compatible stylus - test it in store on your actual computer if you can).As others have mentioned, however, the touchpad regularly fails. It'll not work at all, move the cursor a millimeter at a time, or skip around, clicking things you don't want. The touchscreen & a usb mouse work just fine, but at this price point, the touchpad should just work, period. From various forums, this appears to be a hardware issue - so I can't just bring it to the Microsoft store to fix it.Secondly, that 4k screen isn't perfect. Coupled with the i7, it sucks up your battery and many programs aren't configured for it yet, meaning you get lots of blurry and or tiny buttons. So if your trackpad is going haywire, you have to try to get it with the touchscreen. That's fun for anyone with adult fingers.Additionally, it doesn't seem to handle video well. Sure, there isn't a lot of 4k out yet, but 1080p looks better on pretty much every other computer I've used. Blacks and dark scenes are pixelated and sometimes impossible to see. Jungle scenes in Planet Earth, for example, grey/black out entire chunks of the screen. Don't know if that's the nature of 4k, windows 10, or this particular computer. Don't know if that will improve or stay the same in the future. So, when everything's working, I'm pretty pleased - but several times a day these irritations pop up - and even at this discounted, it's not a cheap model. The touchpad should work. You don't get any benefits thus far from the 4k screen. You could argue that the display is harming your experience, since video plays better on other models without sacrificing battery life.If those things don't bother you - this is a good choice. I haven't decided yet whether or not I'm keeping it.
