UAG Surface Pro 3 is Built for the tough stuff

Built for the tough stuff

Protect your Surface Pro 3 with the case that can take whatever you can dish out. Its soft rubberized binding with a feather-light honeycomb core makes it structurally rigid, and UAG's Frogskin Technology means you'll be able to keep your grip on it, even when it's wet or slippery. And when you click in the Type Cover keyboard, it meets military drop-test standards. It's water-resistant, has air vents to keep it cool, and even has a built-in five-angle aluminum kickstand.

Ratings and reviews

Rated 5 out of5 by fromOMG saved meUsually very careful with my electronics and only bought the extended warranty because this was a new type of product for me. I did not initially buy a case and months with my new Surface pro 3 and an 18" drop onto a wooden chair cracked the screen. So when I got the replacement I ordered this case. I have had it about two weeks and this morning in a rush o grabbed my Surface by the keyboard, it slipped about 4ft to the tile floor and my heart sank, but it was fine!!! I am really going to be more careful, I love the keyboard but the easy detach makes it easier to let the Surface slip. Highly recommend you buy this ...

Rated 4 out of5 by fromWIll not fit the Surface Pro 3 Docking StationI like this case as it does add a good grip surface to carry around and the keyboard/cover bungie at the top right corner is perfect for holding the keyboard/cover closed when you are out.The only drawback I have is that I must remove the case to dock with my Microsoft SP3 docking station. In this area, the case places the table out of alignment with the docking port, therefore rendering the dock useless. Removing the cover is a somewhat nerve-racking experience to say the least. If you don 't have a dock, then this will never be an issue. But otherwise, I would suggest a redesign/modification of the dock to accommodate this product.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromExaclty what I wanted! So I wanted a case/bumper to protect my SP3 while I'm out and about. I take it into the lab often, and also other people handle it as well, heart rate goes up a little, but I have faith :). I understood that there wasn't a case and probably will never be a case that will be compatible with the docking station (which I use and love). I had major concerns whether I would be able to quickly transition from dock to case with ease. I've used many cases before that are insanely hard to take on/off phones before so I was very hesitant. Well, let me tell you that putting this case on/off is a breeze, it's so quick and easy I can do it in 10 sec, taking my time. And it's secure too, so it's not like the ease comes at a price of performance.I'm sure if you're interested in buying a case you've probably already read most other reviews, and it is true that the stand only has 5 positions, and that is a con, but the positions are all functional and I haven't had a situation yet where I've needed an angle unavailable to me. I read it's hard to change the angles or someone felt that they had to use so much force they felt they might break it, simply not true. You push on it, it clicks into place.Biggest con, and you've probably read this too, is that the bumper doesn't play nice with screen protectors. This is definitely true. The edges of the case push up on the corners of my screen protector (Plex Shield Flexible Glass Screen Protector for Surface Pro 3) and it has slight cracks and bubbles. Now these cracks and bubbles in my opinion are relatively insignificant (they're small and isolated only in the corners) and well worth the protection I get while taking the SP3 in the field. I have read that some other screen protectors that don't extend all the way to the edges of the SP3 actually work better, and one day I'll invest and try that out, but these screen protectors are so expensive I feel like mine still has plenty of life left before I need to replace it.I only rated 4 stars because of the screen protector issue, but I honestly don't think you could get a good grip on the device without compressing the edges, so it's not something that is inherently wrong with case. I think screen protectors need to be accommodating now. And I don't think that adding a screen protector to the case is a good idea because then it would definitely be a hassle to take on and off to use the dock.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromidiot proof, but uncomfortableif you are like me and just flat out murder any technology you touch, you really have no choice but to get this, however the Microsoft store doesn't show that it also comes in red and it is much better looking if you get it with a red keyboard than with a black one. However, though it doesn't look ugly, the kickstand is quite frankly lackluster. Right now, I have it propped up against a pillow because if I had it set up with the kickstand it would fall back to the furthest point it can fall to. Though it supposedly has five points it can be set to, it really only has two unless you are at a desk because it always falls down to the biggest angle unless you are at the first one. In many ways, it makes the kickstand like the surface pro 2 which though it isn't awful, makes me miss the normal kickstand that I used to have. However, it is definitely worth this trade off if you are an idiot like me. I have managed to break my Lumia 928 while it was in an Otterbox case. I have stepped on my Surface three times, twice on a bus at an angle with over 30 other high school students there. I have dropped it countless times and as an official, universally acclaimed honest to god idiot, I can promise you that your computer will not break while in this case, however I can also promise you with just as much confidence that given there is no good place to put your pen, you will lose that too.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromBroken screen from 18 inch fall! UAG say too bad.I bought the UAG case from Microsoft. Seemed tough.....until the SP3 fell 18 inches. The screen cracked and now the touch screen won't work with touch. UAG says too bad. Will not back up their claim for military specs. Tough looking is no good if it won't protect from a short fall. Just landed on the floor, 18 inches, and the screen cracked. They won't even take back the case since I bought it from Microsoft and not directly from UAG.Here is their response:"Thank you for contacting us. We are sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing. Urban Armor Gear Cases are approved by Met Laboratories, Inc., a NEBS Certified testing laboratory. This testing confirms devices protected by UAG cases are compliant with MIL-STD-810G 516.6. To achieve this certification, a device must be dropped from a height of 48 inches, on each face, corner, and back. The device is dropped a total of 26 times and must function properly after the test, while not sustaining any damage to the touch screen or buttons. While our case is drop tested there are many factors that play a part in protecting a phone, especially the screen that are beyond our control. Should the screen become impacted directly unfortunately the case does not have an opportunity to fulfill its job in protecting the device. This is only one of the many scenarios where the case would not be able to protect the device. Because of these outside factors that are outside of our control unfortunately we do not cover the devices themselves in our warranty. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding."So much for product support. It was just a basic, simple fall. Find another option. This one is false security. Only good till something happens.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromThought it looked great; however, not functionalThe rear stand used two weak magnets to attempt to hold the stand closed when not in use. Although, I found that the case was not rigid enough to allow the metal stand to fully contact the two small magnets. Therefore, the stand would often flop down when I didn't want to use the stand. I returned it and bought the Trident Cyclops Case, which works beautifully!

Rated 1 out of5 by fromwould not recommendI got this case for obvious reasons however when I tried to put it on my surface pro, it completely shattered my glass screen protector. I adjusted the screen protector many times and the case still would not fit over it. I would think that this product would accommodate a thin screen protector since the product itself does not offer any protection for the screen.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromA Good ProductEasy to install. The only downside is the stand. If you rear it on bare legs, it becomes very uncomfortable. If that doesn't matter, then definitely purchase it.
