What's the difference between Office 365 plans and Office 2016 suites?

Office 365 plans include the complete suite of Office applications, plus other services that are enabled over the Internet, including extra cloud storage with OneDrive and Skype minutes for home use. With Office 365 you get the full, installed Office experience on PCs, Macs, tablets (including Windows, iPad, and Android) and smartphones. Office 365 plans are available as a monthly or annual subscription. With Office 365, upgrades are always included with your subscription.

Office 2016 suites, including Office Home & Student and Home & Business, include applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote; they are available as a one-time purchase for use on a single PC or Mac. The applications are not automatically updated; to get the latest version, you must purchase Office again when the new version becomes available.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromI'm thrilled!I purchased this at Staples the day it came out and has forever fufilled my needs in a new edition of Office! I've had some trouble when I purchased it (a while ago), but the bugs have been fixed or will be (hopefully for some people). Come on guys, they haven't made one for 2013 and I thought there would never be a new version till this. I haven't experienced bugs yet, but for all those people out their, make sure you keep Office updated to the latest software. You can contact microsoft, or in the top right corner of any Office application, click on the smiley face and write them feedback with a screenshot of your issue.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromExcellent productI had put off buying this product for over a month because of reading the bad reviews. Mostly about it being slow and having to login all the time. I have had Office for a week and not once have I experienced these issues. I am very happy I purchased this product and recommend it to anyone. It is fast, efficient, and has outstanding templates to use and modify to fit your need.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromA huge improvement. As a Mac disciple (I worked directly with Steve in the late eighties), I smile at recommending our arch enemy's product. But here we go. This new version of Office for Mac is a huge improvement compared to v 11. So much so that I begin to think after using it a few times that it kicks Pages' behind. The comments on this page telling us that it crashes etc don't apply to me. Maybe that's because these may be written before OS El Capitan version 10.11.3. Either way, the design and user experience are still Microsoft, but they are all rich and make me look really good and work really well.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromStorage HogI would definitely not recommend purchasing this product. We had Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac prior, and it was much better. Other than the annoying way it brings you to their cloud every time you try to open a file, the program is a complete storage hog. It duplicates several massive files for each of the four programs instead of leveraging common resources. There are work arounds, but you have to re-do them every time Microsoft releases an update. I am reverting back to Office for Mac 2011 as this thing is just terrible.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromSlow and BuggyOne would think, after 2 plus decades of development Microsoft may be able to realease a stable Office Suite.I upgraded my MS Office Mac version and regret it. If I had known the product is this crashy and annoying I would not have purchased and would have stayed with my old version. If I have a way to go back, I would in heart beat!
