Ratings and reviews

Rated 1 out of5 by fromNot a wise investment!I have just received my order two days ago! After unpacking the item and excited to use it for the first time, I noticed the following issues.1. The computer's right palm rest area has loud fan or hdd spinning noise. In a quiet area such as the library or my own room, the sound is amplified to unbearable.2. The most unusual thing is, the mouse pad. There is no mouse cursor on the screen. So the mouse pad is not functional. Having just unpacked the computer, I am not too happy having to troubleshoot the issue nor should I have to spend hours to resolve the issue.I will surely be returning this item as i am extremely disappointed.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromDefective product and Not as advertisedI decided to purchase from Microsoft.com just because of signature edition and the Microsoft trust. Unfortunately my black Friday shopping went worst. The sound from the laptop drops to dead low within 3-4 seconds after it starts playing any media (online or local both, same case If I do Maxxaudio sound test). Tried to change few settings in Maxxaudio software but didn't helped. Not only sound the responsiveness of the laptop is very choppy though it is configured with latest i5 processor and 8 GB DDR4 Ram.Microsoft should exchange this product with a perfect one. I would like to try exchange in first place and then return if exchange is not the option.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromSave yourself a few trips to tech supportI bought this laptop less than 3 weeks ago and have made three trips to the Microsoft Store because of it. The first time for a phantom ghost touch from the mousepad that made it completely unusable--Microsoft kept it overnight, diagnosed it as a hardware malfunction, and exchanged it for a new one. Less than a week later, the touch screen feature stopped working and Microsoft is once again unable to fix it. Luckily, everyone at the Microsoft store has been extremely flexible and empathetic about my situation. Apparently Dell has been having a lot of software/hardware issues with this latest line, so I will be exchanging my laptop for a different brand soon.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromA great mid range LaptopIf you are an average user who needs a laptop for day to day purposes like watching a movie or solving a problem or creating an excel sheet with GBs of data this laptop will be a dream for you. If you are a heavy user who does CUDA programming and deep learning, you may not regret the purchase too (but of course its not the best in line for that). The screen is brilliant, colors are vivid and clear. The touch screen response is good. Very sleek design, no additions to brag about or feel sorry for. Very neat laptop which is highly portable and lightweight. I bought this as a gift for my brother (Thanks to the awesome deal from Microsoft store for thanksgiving) and we love it.

Rated 3 out of5 by fromEverything I wanted...except the touchscreenI bought this computer for the overall specs and the great price, not necessarily for the touchscreen. But I ended up really liking the touchscreen feature. It's pretty disappointing then that it stopped working after just two weeks. Everything else about the computer is great and is everything that I'd hoped for (great resolution, lots of storage, nice keyboard, cool screen rotation...). I would have been so happy if the touchscreen worked. For that alone, this review has been dropped down by two stars. I would still recommend this product to other people, but don't expect to receive a functioning touchscreen with your purchase. I will probably try to exchange it within the next couple of weeks.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromGreat deal and value however, out of box was awfulThe reason the out of box experience was awful is due to having to update drivers and firmware on this laptop simply to have it function correctly.-WiFi was a miserable experience until I updated the driver and firmware.-Hard drive speed was exceptionally slow until I updated the BIOS.The one complaint I have is that the battery life is not very good. Regardless of using power saving features and reduced screen brightness. It is not very good battery life if you want to do anything other than browse the web and use word documents.

Rated 1 out of5 by fromBad HddTouch screen is decent, definetly not as bad as what other have said in the reviews. This laptop is perfect for casual home use. I would have given this a 5 star if the hard drive wasnt so loud. There is a grinding, whining, clicking noise from the hdd. Signs of a fualty hdd?! I can replace the hdd to fix it but I should not have to do that for a new laptop. Others are having this problem too, it might be a bad batch of hdd they used. I haven't had the time to contact Dell or Microsoft. But, hopefully I can get some satisfying support when I contact them.
